In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Rayner was right behind her, giving her a small wave as she turned.
"I'm not planning on abandoning you, don't worry about that," he said, as the song changed. He knew the lyrics well, was this an omen of some sort? Hopefully not, but with the way things are going they'd likely run into trouble somewhere down the line.

Maylin smiled in response to his encouraging grin, saying, "Good! I think I'm gonna need you for this!"
The girl was glad that she wouldn't have to deal with the heartless hordes anymore; those things were absolutely relentless...and tapping into her werewolf powers didn't come without quite a bit of fatigue afterwards. But, again, she told herself, there aren't anymore heartless here! The two made several turns, until they found themselves in an alleyway...no one else seemed to be around.
"I...think we made a wrong turn..." Maylin mumbled. So much for her sense of direction...
No sooner had she said that than a pair of the hunchbacked little shadows appeared before them.

"Let's just say there's a reason I left Third District..." Maylin muttered.
Maylin thought for a second; she could kill these two heartless relatively quickly...but that also ran the risk of him seeing what she really was, and she wasn't so sure she could trust him to not turn her in...but then again, she also didn't really like the idea of getting mauled by something as stoppable as two shadows...
Maylin grabbed one of the heartless by the neck, and tossed it at the head of the other one, knocking both back about three or four yards. The girl grasped Rayner's hand and pulled as she ran out of the alley.

Rayner couldn't react. She just violently burst and killed both the heartless- at least stunning them enough to allow them escape. Escape meaning she was dragging along a half-dazed music-crazed teen through the streets of Traverse Town, unknowing of where they were going. Oh well, right? Things happen.
"H-Hey," he said, starting to lose his breath. He hadn't ran like this since... Well, since those dreaded gym tests. Sure, he always passed, but he hated taking them. He was going to say something more, but instead came, "Watch out!"
Rayner would say about ten heartless just popped up in front of the group. They were cut off and it was likely those heartless they took out would bring friends from behind... When? He took this opportunity to cast a haste spell on his comrade.

"H-Hey," he said, starting to lose his breath.
"I'm so sorry, so sorry, just please don't turn me in!" Maylin said quietly under her breath as she ran. The girl wasn't really sure whether she was talking to the boy or praying to whatever god there may be out there to help her.
She tugged the teenager by the wrist again, trying to urge him along. She knew she was probably going a bit fast, and felt relieved when he started to use his feet as well; now she wouldn't have to worry about the possiblity of ripping his hand off...
"Watch out!"
Maylin screeched to a stop as she saw the number of heartless in front of them.
Frick, she thought, I thought that this was a safe district!
As she glanced over her shoulder at Rayner, she felt an odd sensation in her legs...it wasn't very overwhelming, more of a tingling sensation, and she suddenly felt a bit lighter...probably a charm of some sort?
"Have fun."
"Please don't leave me!" Maylin cried as she grabbed two heartless by the antennae, bashing their heads together much like a toddler with dolls.
Why did I just say that? Maylin thought, I usually want people to go away when I'm fighting...

"I'm not planning on it," Rayner said, rather calmly and collectedly, at both her questions. The teen didn't feel a need to repeat it twice, but what would he turn her in for? He turned to a heartless and began slashing at it with his sword, eyes closed, hacking blindly at it until it died. Rayner was never a good killer at all, but he knew how to make a mess of his enemies. It counted for something, right?
He stayed somewhat close to his partner in fighting these heartless, he wouldn't want to be caught in the middle of a bunch of them. He just hoped he wouldn't get too close, maybe she'd accidentally bash him... He shuddered mentally at the thought, but continued on hacking and slashing away.

"I'm not planning on it," Rayner said, rather calmly and collectedly, at both her questions.
"Good," Maylin sighed in relief as she grabbed another pair heartless, throwing them against the nearest wall. A reassuring and sickening 'crack' made the girl sure that she wouldn't have to deal with those two again. She reinspected the numbers of her enemies...

And then there were five.
Rayner had been hacking madly away at another one, when he heard- and felt- the twang of the sword hitting the ground. It made his whole arm feel numb for a moment, and the feeling had not yet come back before he was once more slashing away at more heartless. He quickly cast a shield spell on himself, he figured he'd need it more than her.
"Look away!" he called out, turning away himself and unleashing a blinding blast on the remaining heartless behind them, blinding them momentarily and hopefully not blinding Maylin.

((Sorry for it being so late; getting grounded sucks ))
"Look away!" he called out.
Maylin did as told, spinning around on her heel for the remainder of the blast, but in a split second before the blast hit it, a heartless dug its claws into the girl's back. The girl screeched, arching backwards, folding the heartless in on itself. Then, much like a contortionist, she kept on bending backwards until...
CRUNCH
The girl paused for a moment, then snapped her spine back into place, locking sounds being heard as she stood up. As she straightened herself out, a crumpled remains of the shadow fell to the ground.
"Ugh," Maylin groaned, picking up another heartless, "I'm never trying that again..."
((....damn, I'm starting to make Maylin a lot more violent than usual...))

Rayner stood there, not exactly sure what happened, not exactly sure if he should gape in amazement, continue with the fight, or puke right there. He wasn't sure of what he would do, he thought the one in the middle would be the most productive. He slashed at the last one and gave it a good punt, sending it to wherever heartless go whenever they were killed.
He couldn't get the noise out of his head, and his stomach was telling him that his third option just might become a reality very soon.

As Maylin threw another heartless against a neraby wall, she turned back to check once more on her partner. While he was still fighting, he didn't look all too well, unless of course, a slightly green complexion was considered a sign of vitality where he came from. Now she started to regret pulling that move, and it wasn't just because of her newfound need for a chiropractor...
With two heartless left, the pair could easily outrun the two shadows...and that would probably be best, not only for Rayner's stomach, but perhaps herself as well...she shouldn't risk losing control of herself.
"Come on," she said, grabbing Rayner's wrist and running off, "Keep your eyes open and you should be fine."

He was jerked once more and broke into a forced run. Of course, that did nothing to help his stomach, movement was generally a bad thing, he thought. Oh well. He had little choice in the matter, so he just kept his legs running and hoping that he could hold in his last meal.
