In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

So... it looked as if she was up against Rook this time, huh? Just how many of her friends was she going to be fighting in this tournament? There was already Kian... this time it was Rook. She had to admit... the brackets that were coming up for her weren't all that great. Hell! There were Nobodies and Heartless in these tournaments! Why couldn't she go up against them and perhaps rid the worlds of them for good?!
"Tch... whatever..." Ikari mumbled as she rolled her shoulders and turned her head from side to side to get her muscles relaxed and prepped for battle. She had seen Rook before in battle... so she knew some of what to expect. There was one thing that she couldn't afford to do this round, and that was get a cocky attitude.
A dark portal opened across from Ikari, swirling shadows and whisps that produced the redheaded opponent she would have to beat. Determination burned through his eyes as he stepped forward, the portal closing behind him. The surprise switch in opponents took him by surprise for but a moment, before he shrugged it off and dismissed it entirely. His first two rounds he had been up against opponents at least twice his size, being able to tangle with someone closer to his stature was a breath of fresh air. Now if only he could do something about the soreness that still echoed in his arms and back. Two healings be damned, nothing would make you feel 100% after taking multpile stab wounds.
He stared down Ikari for a moment before turning his side to her and cracking his neck. A large part of him wanted to greet her, tell her he had missed her over the long months they had spent apart since seeing one another last. But the smaller part that seemed to keep his tongue still just wanted another victory under his belt. Another advancement up the rung towards the Hades Cup championship.
So with a grunt, his feet slid further apart and his hands braced for impact. Ikari held a card, but that would not keep him from his dream.
Her eyes narrowed as she stared back at Rook. It seemed that he didn't seem all that inclined to greet an old friend.... Well then fine... neither would she. Why should she? Besides... something seemed... very off about Rook the last time she had come into contact with him -- which wasn't all that long ago, really.
She closed her eyes for a moment and took in a few good deep breaths to prep herself further for battle. It seemed that she was taking this one more into consideration than she was the past two battles that she had gone through already. That may have had something to do with the relationship that seemed to be hanging by a thread that was still between the two of them. Who could tell?
"Whatever..." Ikari muttered, kicking the toe of her shoe against the ground and then opening and closing her hands for a moment. She had been through quite a bit... but it seemed that she hadn't gone through ad much that Rook did -- and depending on how he reacted and what his attacks were... there was no way that Ikari was going to be soft. If anything... she was going to go at him as if he was one of her enemies.
Rook cracked his neck, leaning it left and right until it popped loudly. What was this, a staring contest? He knew Ikari was more frontal than this. Her attitude made it seem so, anyways. So it appeared to be up to him to kick things off.
Backing up in an arc, he began tracing a circle around her, stalking her, fists clenched, "You won't stop me either..." He growled under his breath. What was in that potion Marluxia gave him? Kicking forward in a springing motion, he let loose an overhanded punch aimed at her chest, bringing his knee up in the followthrough. His insistance on being offensive yet again likely to prove itself as much a curse as a gift.
Following him with her eyes, Ikari's brow furrowed even more as she continued to watch him. She heard him say something, though couldn't make out the words clear enough to know what he had said. The fire-user had taken to clenching her own fists as she looked at him. She had lightning crackle around her fists for a moment and that's when she saw it. Movement.
"Too slow..." Ikari murmured as she sprung backwards and opened her fists. Her body arced backwards and she had placed her hands firmly against the ground, then propelled herself further back in a backhand spring. As she had gotten back up on her feet in a crouching position, she glared over at Rook for a moment and then clenched her jaw. Just what was with him?
Shaking her head a bit, she stood up straight and then dusted herself off for a moment before bracing herself yet again need she have to dart away.
Speedy as he remembered. Rook tensed his right arm and arced it as if lobbing a grenade, but the release was straight, "Guard Light!" Firing from his palm, the pulse of Light landed short of Ikari, impacting with a bright display before her. You can't catch mice on your own. Not without leading them in to a trap.
His feet stayed grounded, only sliding a bit sideways to face her head on. With a glare in his hazed eyes, he waited. She'd have to move in some direction. He'd make his next move then.
Her palm had clenched the dirt beneath her and she darted to the left from where the cast had landed. This was something that she had never seen before.
Hnh... now that she knew that Rook could use magic, himself, there was opened the opportunity for her to later use magic, herself, if need be. However. now was not the time... and it seemed that Rook had undershot whatever spell he had aimed at her. Was he... was he going easy on her?
Better not be... those were the only words that she found coursing though her mind at the moment as she ever considered that possibility.
Keeping the dirt firm in her grasp, Ikari continued to assume that dart ready crouching position, being sure to keep a rather well-balanced 'poker face' unwavering upon her facial expression. There was no telling what was going to happen... and she wasn't going to allow for there to be a surprise attack.
"Rule number one... everything's a weapon..." Ikari whispered, her voice nearly inaudible to even her own ears.
((Similarities in posts intended. Mirror-mirror and all that.))
Rook's withholding of action was perhaps not the most tactical, but it gave him a slight headstart on his next set of moves. Ikari was not trying to get away from the impact as he had thought she might. She wasn't going anywhere. She took the blast before her like a champ, hardly even flinching.
What was she doing? Ikari hadn't shown this much reservation on Halloweentown. She was frontal, offensive. Now she appeared timid, as if either planning something of her own, or waiting out his assault. Was she... was she going easy on him?
Better not be... I'll destroy this entire place is that's what I have to do. Starting now.
Rook reached upwards with both hands, letting out a gutteral growl as he flung them both forward. "Guard Light!!" Another volley exploded from him, ripping up the arena floor on either side of her. It, again, wasn't aimed at her, though the angle of his arms made it cap off closer to her than it started out, or was intended.
"Rule number one..." he silently juxtaposed, an unknowing retort to her own quiet meandering. His eyes flashed darkly and he exhaled with a huff, "...Everything is fodder."
Her eyes squeezed closed as she saw the next cast being shot out. However... she wasn't hit... it wasn't exactly something that she was expecting.... Though, as Ikari opened her eyes, she glanced from side to side and noticed the change in the field. Scoffing, Ikari got up out of her crouching position and then looked to Rook.
He wanted her to attack him without darting around so much, it seemed. Well... whatever then! Sprinting forwards at nearly a blink of an eye, Ikari had run past Rook, throwing up a the cloud of dirt from her fist as she did so, hoping to blind him momentarily. Not caring whether or not she got him or not, Ikari drew Dragon's Flame from its scabbard and then leaped to the side, down into one of the crevices that was created.
Jamming the blade of Dragon's Flame into the wall of the fissure, the fire user hung there for a moment, not exactly sure if she had planned this out to the best of her ability. Even though that was the case, though, Ikari had summoned the Temporal Flame KeyBlade to her free hand's grasp and looked up. She had gotten out of a situation like this before... but now with two blades, it seemed that it was going to be easier.
"Grraahh!" Rook let out a pained cry as the dirt blinded his left eye. He rubbed at it furiously and spun towards Ikari with a backhand, but she was already gone, leaving nothing but air in his wake.
His other hand tensed into a ball as he looked about with his good eye. Gone... here, but out of sight. Time to revisit his "everything is fodder" ruling. Ikari was fast, there wasn't a way to take that away from her without getting his hands on her, which she was too quick for. But you need terrain to navigate. Without that, tripping, stumbling, falling becomes all too easier.
"Guard Light!" He fired one last round with his free hand, arcing his wake in a large arc that encompassed the middle of the arena, and traversed across the crevices he had already forged, the rumbling of the alotted area giving way to more upheaval as stone was torn asunder from its placement.
What resulted was a rocky substitute for the once-even and smooth flooring the had been given to duel in. Forcing his bloodshot and blurry eye open for just a moment to let it water out, he scanned the arena again, summoning BlackJack and going over his options on a counterattack.
