In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Title: Child of Darkness: Coming of Age Characters: Elaeus, Synthest
The First District had been searched through quite swiftly as the Heartless moved underground like a stealthy mole. He wasn't anywhere in sight, and after uprooting himself from below in a darkened corner, the Heartless began asking modern townspeople of his whereabouts. They simply shrugged and stated how they must hurry home; the day was getting late, and the heartless and nobodies here were unpredictable. That left Elaeus no choice but to roam in the Second District without a lead.
Shadows wiggled from the floor circling the Earth Titan. They croutched down with twitching antennas before wobbling away after the order. They would make this search easier to find him. Synthest may have a soft spot for others, and the shadows would play their role attacking others until Synthest is drawn out only to dart away towards Elaeus.
Leaning against the balcony, Elaeus stared at the fountain before him that was to hold the heart of the world. He wondered if the keyhole was truly locked, which would explain why he never ran into the keyblade wielders, they didn't worry about the world's condition unless they were just as clueless. If the keyhole was indeed locked by the keyblade, it would need to be unlocked as well by the weapon.
If that's truly the case, he wondered why the keyblades started their circulation. Sure there was a high powerful Heartless and Nobodies around, but the worlds' hearts weren't endangered unless a side was to obtain a keyblade to do the unlocking. The Organization have Aros, an embodiemnt of darkness, a shadow, from Sora. Elaeus refuse to call him a Heartless, because Sora indeed have his own heart making Aros a complete abomination of science. For some reason, it had Even written all over it...well Vexen to be correct.
Marluxia was under protection through the Dark XII, and he have a pet key boy, Rook. Rook was iffy and out of the question. It would take a lot of strings to pull to make him fully succumbed to such task he would hate to do. Elaeus wouldn't risk to see if he would do ANYTHING for Era; it could work, but one still had an option of saying no. Manipulation always came with a price, the chance of the pet biting back. Elaeus doesn't need to manipulate, but pure control.
For example, Maverick could easily be under his control with Elaeus' fragment within him. Tracking him down would be easy as well as summoning the Dark Knight. Maverick does have a benefit, a connection to The Earth Titan. If he was in dire trouble, he can always call for him.
"Hm," he haven't heard from Maverick in a while. Who know who that boy was tango-ing with? He'll deal with Maverick on a later time; he had to get Synthest for all the work done wouldn't be wasted.
It was so long ago that he had been confronted by that Heartless. It still hurt his Heart to think about what the beast had said to him. He had sat there until he fell asleep, and ever since, he had been numb. The Heartless had acted as if he owned Syn... It made him afraid. What was he turning into?
Indeed, Synthest had began to think about what was on his arm. The metal cast inside harbored the disease inside of a crystal, keeping it at bay so Synthest could fight it. He had put it into a place where there was no light, keeping it weak... But it stirred whenever he fought. It seemed to gain power from him fighting. Maybe it was the fact that Syn fought for the Light, and those fierce emotions of sorrow fed him. He didn't understand it at all.
Synthest sighed as he hid in his hiding spot, overlooking the city. The bell was directly overhead, casting him in shadow. He was afraid... He didn't want to forget them. Yuni, Keilah. Lloyd... Keisha. He couldn't forget any of them. But in his Heart, he knew that if he became a full Heartless, he was becoming the very thing they had fought against. To be the target of Lloyd's spear... Syn shuddered. He had lost his best friends long ago, and still missed them terribly. He didn't want to be the enemy the next time they met.
But they have been turned by now... The voice seemed to rise over reasoning, torturing him. They couldn't be Heartless. They were still fighting, all of them. He didn't want to believe that they weren't their old selves anymore.
The Fire in his heart warmed him as he started to sleep, and he felt a tear hit his cheek. He shouldn't do that... He may look sixteen, but he was older. Far older. Still... Why him? Maybe this was his chance for redemption. This was his way to Eden.

The shouts of warning with scream of panic wavered throughout the First District as the shadows were on their daily attack. The inky black creatures lept from the shadows onto innocent bystanders as their claws attacked their quivering bodies. It was loud enough for Elaeus to hear it, then again as a Heartless he can communicate with them like Ienzo to his neoshadows.
The stomps of the mortals' running feet were loud in his ears as the vibration shook through the Earth. To shake things up, he sent a quake to shake though the First District increasing the chaos. With a snort, Elaeus' eyes narrowed at the keyholes hiding place. He was doing far too much just to lure one individual. This plan better work, because he rather not result to bloodshed.
He doesn't like to get messy unless it was required...
Syn felt the shaking. It made the concrete around him vibrate as he lay there, halfway asleep. What was going on? Was it Heartless? Or Nobody? At this point it didn't really matter to him. He couldn't gain revenge. As the humanoid Heartless had said... He was only running away from the fact that he would soon cease to be human. His mind would cease to be, and two separate entities would come into reality.
He would be the one to truly cease to exist.
He stood up slowly, the black metal creeping out of his palm, and it formed into the normal blade, the crystals shining in the dull light. Making his way out from under the bell, he walked to the edge of the tall building and looked over the edge, leaning against one of the pillars.
It was a Heartless. The same one that had hurt him... "You're looking for me, aren't you?" His voice was loud, and he stared at the beast with a fiery expression. They wouldn't let him go. But he couldn't stop fighting. Else, he would lose his friends forever.

"Perhaps," Elaeus replied once spotting the location of the familiar voice seeing a familiar face.
As if pulled by invisible strings, the shadows that were summoned to wreck havoc teleported in smoke of darkness on the balcony Elaeus leaned against. Darkness rippled like vapor. Tilting his head to the side, the Earth Titan watched him closely.
"I see that no one had came to harm you or a keyblade to send you into oblivion. Also you don't seem so suprised to see me. Why have you became acquainted with what you are or are you simply still running from the inevitable? I rather not see another child of darkness walk about aimlessly and ignorantly."
Putting his hand down on the cement balcony, Elaeus lept over with ease before landing like a delicate feline. As he stepped forward more heartless became prominent like the large bodies, the shadows, and the gaia. Raising his hand, the floor infront of the doors to both the Second and Third District rose up blocking the door completely. He didn't feel like being disturbed today.
Synthest just sighed as the man blocked the exits.
His blue eyes glowed as he stared at the man, his brown hair falling in front of his face. He looked to the ground and leaned against the wall. "That's because... Everybody has a piece of Darkness within them. Mine is just a little bigger than most." He rose his right arm, releasing it from the blue jacket's sleeve. The metal shimmered underneath the skin, turning the skin a darker color than it was supposed to be.
"Years ago, a Heartless infested my body, but I imprisoned it in a Dark Crystal, where there was no Light. Thus, there was no true Darkness for it to feed from. The weak Heartless struggled in the Nothingness, and in its desperation, it attached itself to me. But even today, I fight the disease. Even when it punishes my body, I fight it down... I can't let it control me." He couldn't lose his memories or his friends... Or his feelings. He didn't want to be unfeeling, or Dark, or whatever else. He just wanted to be him.
He knew that there was no reason to be angry. The Dark ones had set their sights on him. He couldn't let his emotions affect him... He had to think clearly. Was there reason for escape? What would they do to him if they caught him? The cold essence of fear was stirring in the pit of his stomach. He wanted to be human... But it seemed as though he never had a choice, even if it involved him.
"Write your own story..." No longer, Syn guessed.
"I really don't want to fight, but you're not leaving me a choice..." Syn stepped off the wall and hit his stance, his hands out. "I still have Light inside, and you can't extinguish that!"

"How many times must I tell the fool who is he? How many times must I be the mirror of truth? You can continue prancing in your dream of diseased and cures...then again it's typical for the one in denial will say just about anything to help them sleep at night."
Flexing his fingers, Elaues summoned his tiger claws, the blades jutted from the knuckles. "Hm, a Heartless with Light. Perhaps I should show you the real light, the truth, through darkness. You speak as if your human, but the only thing human about you is living in your own lies. But don't worry, I tend to show the upmost honesty to fools. I've already made a decent crack in you the last time. This time the damage of truth will be much greater."
The heartless about them were growing anxious as darkness stirred in the Second District. To shorten his distance, Elaeus transformed a jog into a sprint; his tiger claws ready for attack and defense. "Let's see how strong your false faith is on that phoney Light of yours."
Syn held his ground, his arm out in front of him like a shield. "You're just like my damned brother, you know that?" He glared at the Heartless as it approached. "You think that you hold divine sense somehow!"
The man came into range, and Syn dropped his arm, a surge of white light releasing a long blade blade. With a single movement, he flicked the blade into a defensive stance, ready for an attack.
"Where are your friends, Heartless? Where is your family?" Syn smiled. "That is what you don't have compared to me. You threw it all away... That is Light."
Flames began to crawl from underneath his sleeves, travelling up his blade. The ruby near the hilt shined ferociously.

"You think that you hold divine sense somehow!"
"Well...it must affect you somehow, since your getting angry. Perhaps what I'm saying is true, and you just HATE hearing it."
Seeing the blade rose in defense, he pressed his right tiger blade against it pushing it back as the left rose for a stab. "Hn," Elaeus smirked, "the more you talk to more idiotic you sound. Where's your family heartless? No ones hear, but you, I, and my FAMILY." The Heartless about them stirred in response leaning in closer.
The left tigerblade drove to stab at a free shoulder, while the right forced strength upon it as Elaeus stepped forward. "You are just as alone. Where are your friends to help you now? How would they love to see a FRIEND like yourself with a corrupted heart of darkness, a heartless. I wonder if they would even recognize you."
His grin widdened revealing a pair of fangs, "You don't have any light. All you have is your pathetic self wandering in circles in the darkness." Around them sand started to whirl as a tornado similar to a strong air cycle. "Fighting with what you are will only hurt you."
The tiger fang slid towards his shoulder, and in a single moment, his black blade had morphed into a shield. The tiger fangs created sparks as he held it, and he jumped back, his heart racing. Syn stared at Elaeus, hating the man. He couldn't be right! And about his friends... They WOULD recognize him if he was Heartless. Syn figured it was time to show Elaeus the secret power. He would use his own powers against him!
The shield morphed back into a blade, and Syn's hand shot to the Onyx crystal, sliding it down to a small depression in the hilt. As soon as it got there, Syn stopped.
"You see... This blade is a part of me, and it has the ability to hold Elemental properties." The Dark Crystal shined. "I'm going to show you my true Darkness! Then you can decide on what I am. Can you kill a Heartless? Because this one is a true Heartless!"
The lines spread up his body, and he could feel the power surging within, along with the malevolent force he had unleashed. This was when he had to focus on Elaeus, to keep his own mind whilst he used the Heartless' powers. His skin turned gray, his hair black, and Synthest looked to him with satisfaction. Dark lines ran down his face at his eyes and mouth, his irises turning a sickly yellow. His body was almost black, and it seemed to shine as the Heartless form did...
When he spoke, his voice had a second layer, and the sword rose in front of him. "This is my true Darkness, Heartless. And now you will understand what the difference is between me... And YOU!"
He lunged forwards, the blade melting into halves, and he grabbed the other. Dual wielding Virtegon reduce the length of the blade by about half, giving him two short-swords. Each one held three elements apeice. At the moment, one was a shining white, the other one a shifting Darkness.

Elaeus snorted as the pup growled back at him. The Alpha would just have to let the pup know who he was truly dealing with and the clear difference between the two. This pup was a child of darkness still learning and growing, while he was more self-controled and well educated in what he was. Elaeus wasn't running away from who he was or living a double persona just to sleep peacefully. Can he kill a heartless? Indeed, he could; all he had to do was to devour the heart, but Elaeus need the heart as is. Synthest had done what Elaeus wanted; he beckoned his true being, and Elaeus would make sure to keep it how it currently was.
Digging his foot into the ground, The Earth Titan slowly approached Synthest, while eyeing the crystals. He was tempted to force the crystal apart like he could manipulate his diamond, but he held back. Elaeus would make the pup submit by his own power. If it's a fight he wanted, the Earth Titan would give it to him. The tornado continued to warp around them; if the pup wasn't careful he could surely injure himself.
His eyes narrowed, and the length of the blades increased as his right arm did a sweep at the left blade. The defensive stance kept it at bay leaving his left tiger claws able to attack. The left tiger claw could easily flex from an attack to defense as it rose for a possible strike or block of the right sword.
Syn rushed forward, the two blades leaving streamlines behind him as his black hair flew out around him. His yellow irises were focused on Elaeus as he jumped into the air. "I don't fear the Darkness!" The scream echoed through the air as his body burst into flames, his blaeds writhing with heat.
The was just toying with him... But the Heartless thought he was so good. He was such a pompous person... It annoyed Syn to no end. He may not be able to beat him, but if he was captured, he would never stop training to kill him and the Dark XII. It was his duty, his reason to exist, to exterminate the physical Darkness. He would balance the worlds as a Twilit warrior should.

"Then stop running from it, runt." The Heartless muttered. Croutching down, he allowed his legs to propel him in the air. His tiger claws slashed in a fury, Wrath of the Tiger. A series of diverse animal growls emitted from his lips. With a vertical slash, a force rippled past the Tiger Claws towards Synthest; if it impacted the ground it would cause a quake.
Like a feline, he landed on the floor flexing his fingers.
Syn flew through the air, his two blades swinging down, and he felt the force ripple through them as his palms stung. He hit the ground, shaking the numbness from his arms, and smiled. Elaeus thought he was running. He was the one hunting the Heartless. He was the one who sought them and destroyed them. He wasn't running from anything. Elaeus was wrong... He wasn't a Heartless.
As a matter of fact, this had to stop. His thoughts were becoming fluid, and he couldn't hold onto anything but his emotions... Just like a Heartless, driven by their instincts. He forced the Darkness away from his mind and threw Virtegon back together, throwing Sin back into the black crystal. The thing was getting stronger...
His hair turned brown again as he stared at Elaeus. "Why aren't you fighting me? These small attacks... What are you doing?" He paced a circle around Elaeus, Virtegon at the ready. "What is your objective? Why do you bother me?" What was the Heartless here for? His eyes slowly turned blue, and his skin began to change to its original shade.
He didn't know what to do. Should he call for help? He didn't think he could get close to Elaeus, much less beat him. Wait!
The sandstorms whirled behind him as he let Virtegon hang to his side. The metal began to shift, and in a second, he had a chain whip, complete with multiple crystals to handle the elements. This might do the trick...

"Perhaps I don't want to enjoy the pup too much. Then again you're not giving your all either; all your during is exerting your anger out on my...like any typical heartless. My objective is to collect as many child of darkness I find including the ones in denial. You aren't the first either." Elaeus replied watching the runt circle him; in annoyance, he made the Earth endlessly quiver with quakes.
"There was one like you walking away from his true path, which caused more anguish for him to bear. Like I always say, acceptance is key, and when he did, he was more at peace. You may not like to admit what you are, but darkness will claim its child eventually." With a whistle, the sand whirling tightened forming into a snake. It slithered around the Heartless in denial with its hood up.
"Seriously, you're so stubborn that you don't realize that you contradict yourself on so many levels. It's depressing."
