In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Ienzo laughed as a fireball whizzed by his face, feeling the warmth leave an imprint on his skin. The shadows jumped in disarray, and in that moment, Ienzo lost his connection with the Heartless. Oh hell... The thing was completely on the loose now. Without any form of thought, the feral beast roared, lifting up its legs. Ienzo sighed.
"How you want'a play it?"
Ienzo looked to the beast and felt his analytic mind begin to turn. "We need to confuse it. Everybody split up!" The lightning the beast shot was the only thing that could hit them all, other than the irritating shockwaves. It didn't matter who it attacked, they needed to get on its back and hit the horn. "And the people who are free of attacks, attack its horn!"
The wind erupted in a violent fury as the Behemoth roared, and lightning thundered down. A black shield enveloped the small group, and it disappeared as quickly as it came. Ienzo shook away electricity as his body buzzed. He couldn't stretch Sin far enough. The black blade buzzed slightly, and he turned to the others. "Let's do this."
Lily, feeling that was plenty of invitation, darted away, sloping off to the left. So the kid could cast, Tall-Dark-and.... and something. Yeah. That hadn't worked - could do something with capital-D Darkness, and she could, well - She darted back into tag the back leg - a distraction, right? Only the blade bounced off, reverberating in her hand painfully.
Well.
Right.
"How do I hurt it?" Her voice was even and quiet, like she was talking to herself.
Leif startled as a veil of black disappeared as quickly as it had arrived, and some part of his mind faintly registered that it had been protective. The boy was more than a bit shell shocked, which left him standing in place somewhat uselessly for just a moment. His brain was screaming at him to move, but at first his legs wouldn't respond.
"Must I do everything myself?" The Soul Brand jerked in Leif's hands, snapping him to attention and lurching him to the side, on the opposite side that not-Kara had run down. The man in black had said to attack the horn... but how? There was no way Leif was going to get anywhere near that mouth. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw not-Kara's sword bounce harmlessly off the beast's leg. It didn't seem like there was any way to hurt this thing!
About then the giant beast reared back again, landing with considerable force - but, Leif noted, without moving its back legs much. Maybe they'd be stable enough to...?
... he'd already done several other reckless things today in the last five minutes. What was one more? He'd climb up the back legs. At least then he couldn't get stepped on.
... except that there was nothing to grab on to, he discovered to his dismay when he reached the back leg. Now what?
"At least you're actually thinking, for once." The Soul Brand seemed unimpressed. Its previous wielders would have slain this thing by now. This boy needed work. Hmph.
((Edit: By the way, sorry for the delay. Been a little crazy this week. @_@; ))
Ienzo chuckled as Lily hit the back leg. At least she was going in the right direction. His two allies in battle reached the back of the beast and Ienzo sighed. Looked as though he would be the distraction.
He jumped backwards, narrowly avoiding a shockwave that might have fractured his ankles, and hit the ground low, scooping up the shadows around him. He rose the black, swirling mass and chucked it at the beast's face. The shadow, previously a ball, narrowed out into his black sword, Sin. The weapon struck the beast's face, summoning Ienzo its immediate attention.
"Onto its back!" he said as the beast threw a bolt of lightning towards him. "Climb. Hit the horn!"
"Behemoth." The voice of her 'dex was, as always, calm - it had been programed so, and so it was. "The Groundshaker Heartless. Can only be harmed by attacking to horn on its head. Weak to: Normal. Gravity. Immune to: Fire. Electric. Ice. Other types unknown."
Okay...... On its back. Right. She could do that. Time for Incredibly Stupid Plans volume 106.
Lily ran up to the back leg, sword clutched in one hand, and leaped up on the part-that-sticks-out, which she was going to think of as its heel, flinging her arms around the leg as far as they would go.
Ugh. it was all fleshy and armored and weird.
"I think," she said, her free hand scrabbled for a hold, a ridge, something to pull herself up by. "That you're just making titles up now."
"Negative. Scan Function matched to Registered Database." Just because it didn't inflect didn't mean it couldn't make fun, and she rolled her eyes.

That was a little bit more helpful advice, though Leif had already figured it out for himself, more or less. It was getting on his back that was going to be the challenging part. How was he supposed to get on top?
"Try a wind spell." This boy was hopeless. It seemed The Soul Brand would have to tell him how to do everything at this point. Before Leif could ask for further information, it continued. "Jump, swing me behind you, and shout the word 'wind'."
Leif, by this point, knew that there was likely quite a bit that this sword could do, and so he had no reason not to trust it. At worst, he'd look a little silly, right? So, he gave it his best jump, swung the blade towards the ground, and shouted.
"Wind!" A powerful gust of wind shot forth from the arc of the blade, and Leif was propelled into the air, up, up... and just over the giant beast. He had managed to clear the thing entirely. Huh. That wasn't good. There was a thud as he crashed into the pavement on the other side of the beast. Ow
"Interesting..." The Soul Brand had not expected the boy to pull off that spell quite so well. Perhaps he had a natural affinity for the element. Maybe he wasn't completely useless.
Perfect. The kid who had obvious magickal potential had no idea what he was doing. The boy hit the pavement only a few yards away and Ienzo sighed as another shockwave lifted him into the air. He hit the ground and jumped forward. The beast came close and he summoned the shadows. In a few graceful steps, he solidified the Darkness below his feet and jumped forward, using his long, black weapon to strike at the horn.
The hit the ground and rolled backwards, narrowly avoiding another bolt of lightning. That maneuver took way too much time to perform with a creature this big. Plus, the beast wasn't stupid. It would now know to stop Ienzo whenever he attempted it. Still, he held the beast's attention. That was all he needed.
What to do now? His legs were shaking slightly from the shockwaves. Too many more and he would have to find refuge, either in the shadows or on top of the beast. Either way, the small group would be down a fighter, leaving only two left, one of which new to the fighting game.
This was so many kinds of not working. Her jump was maybe a foot and a half on a good day, and this thing had nothing to cling to. There was no way she could climb with out a place to grip, not with one hand occupied.
Lily jumped down and ran over to snag the new kid's arm. She was pretty sure he'd just come over the monster's back - damm all these people with their way of jumping twenty feet in the air.
Leif was still a little dazed from hitting the ground as hard as he had, but he managed to snap out of it when not-Kara (note to self: ask her for her name after this) helped him up. He nodded in response.
"I think so." he answered, getting to his feet. "I'll give you a boost." One he was on his feet, he moved over to the beast's enormous back leg - seriously, where did things this big even come from? - and braced his hands to make a platform for her to step on. Hopefully that would be enough, because he didn't much feel like trying that whole wind jumping thing again. That was going to leave a bruise.
Besides, she seemed like she could take care of the thing, right?
Ienzo jumped back as the two worked together, successfully getting on the creature's back.
The shady man immediately went to dodging the shockwaves, laughing. He had a plan. The light poles. Traverse Town was full of the aged lanterns, and they were a little taller than he was himself. He rushed to one of the nearby walls. His position could be slightly dangerous, leaving him cornered, but the Behemoth wasn't all that quick.
He stood only a few feet away from the pole, awaiting the moment the beast would begin to charge its bolts. This way, the lightning would be immediately attracted to the pole, leaving Ienzo a path to run.
Lily fit her boot in his hands and jumped, and apparently that was enough. This time when she scrambled for a hold she found one, a ridge in its armored hide, just enough to hook with her fingertips and through herself forward.
Now on its back, she clung and crawled her way, looking crablike, up its back. It's movements made her stop and cling, but she didn't flinch at the lightning, and it hadn't seemed to notice her. It was a long moment, though probably a matter of seconds, before she got to its head and threw herself forward again, to wrap herself around the black horn.
Finally, something had worked the way it was supposed to. The girl had managed to get on the thing's back and had made her way to the horn. Leif guessed that would be good enough. Now time to get away from this thing, and not get stepped on.
No. No, he needed to go fight. These things, whatever they were, were the things responsible for the destru- ... for a lot of things. He had to take this thing down, he had to fight. Leif needed revenge. Swinging the sword behind himself once more, Leif shouted.
"Wind!" The force of the gale was enough to propel himself onto the thing's back. This time, though, Leif was expecting it, and managed to catch himself and steady himself instead of falling off. It would pay for what it had done.
Meanwhile, The Soul Brand mentally smirked, pleased with its handiwork.
Ienzo watched as the girl attached herself to the horn. The beast could probably feel that. He didn't want it focusing on her...
With a quick movement, Ienzo picked up a shadow and urged it to solidify. He spun around and threw it at the beast, putting a huge amount of force into it. With his hand, he urged it onwards... Straight into the beast's face!
The boy, meanwhile, was getting the hang of things. He had used the magic to get on the creature's back. Good. Maybe they had a chance. In a second, the man had disappeared into shadows.
He looked to the boy as he clutched at the creature's back and pointed to the horn. "Try and destroy it without killing Lily," he said as he withdrew his black sword. "The creature'll go down fast."
Oh, the beast was going to feel this, all right. Maybe not the death grip she had with her one arm and her legs, but this -- Lily flipped Scylling around, drawing the serrated edge back and forth across the horn. It skittered and slid, and then caught, and she sawed away at it.
So that was her name! Well, that'd save some awkward moments later. With that out of the way, he heeded the man's advice and carefully made his way forward. Eventually he reached the other side, where whats-her-name, Lily was sawing away at the horn. Huh. He didn't think swords were supposed to be used that way, but then again, he was no expert.
Still, attacking the horn without hitting Lily was going to be tricky. She kind of had a death grip on it, basically shielding it from all attacks except her own. Right. How was this supposed to work?
"Tell her to duck." That was an idea. Leif brought The Soul Brand up, preparing to swing with it rather high.
"Um. Excuse me. Could you duck, please?" Mentally, The Soul Brand sighed. If it had hands or a face, it would have facepalmed right then.
