In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

The Frosted Flame. Again. Rose sighed as she sat in a corner booth with the light out. It was the only way she could have Halen be out without him getting attacked. She still wasn't very clear on the whole Heartless-are-evil thing, mostly because she still knew almost nothing about the Heartless. All she knew was that he was her friend (or pet, she wasn't sure), and that for some weird reason, people generally wanted him dead. She sighed quietly, while Halen played with her wrist computer.
Halen was focused entirely on the computer open in front of him. He had gotten a doohickey out, and detached it from a thingamabob, and was currently searching for a whatsit that he suspected was also the power source. He was trying to filter some of his darkness into the power source so that his mistress could activate the portals he used to travel around, but he wasn't doing a very good job. He had already broken the doohickey, and he was currently trying very hard to break open the thingamabob to see if the elusive whatsit was inside. Rose sighed again.

Ienzo looked over to see a girl and a Neo-Shadow. A Neo-Shadow... What the hell? The dark-haired, slim figure stood up, holding his dark jacket close, and sat down a few seats away. His steel eyes gazed to her and the small creature, who was playing with a watch-type thing.
He'd only seen this once: With an exceptionally strong Heart turned Heartless. That Heartless attempted to protect his friends even in the Darkness. Even though they were hitting hm. That Heart was Sora's. He had found light in the deepset darkness, even when he was a Heartless. Had this one done the same?
"A Neo-Shadow that doesn't eat Hearts... That's an odd sight," he commented, drinking his tea. His eyes slid to the Heartless and he watched it with interest. It seemed that a strong Heart could fight its inner Darkness, even if consumed by it.
Halen succeeded in cracking open the thingamabob, and there it was: the whatsit! He purred happily, and began crackling with dark energies that he pored into the power source, charging it, and linking it to the darkness. He began writing a spell in his head that would allow Rose to move through the darkness, and another that would allow her to check the darkness in a heart.
Rose suddenly became nervous. She moved her drink across the table slowly, watching the bar in the reflection. There… A gray haired man… He was watching her. Or Halen. She could never tell. She shrugged her sholders, and felt her weapons shift against her back, bringing them within easy reach. She narrowed her eyes, and slid her glass back, and took a drink.

Gerard sighed weakly as he walked through the streets. His luck had gone from bad to worse to horrible. How could such horrible things happen to him? What kind of malevolent being was bringing him down? How could any form of god give him this sort of test? How could he have ran out of his white champagne?!
He stumbled into the Frosted Flame and moved like a sack into one of the booths. He hung his head wearily as he placed his order for a rum and coke. Christmas was coming around and the place where he usually got the champage had closed down. He had tried other places but they either didn't carry the drink or it tasted horrible. His drink came and he took a sip delicately. "...Decent" , he said this quietly and immediately decided he'd be coming here again. He took a look around to see who was all in here and noticed there was some sorta device on a table someone was sitting at. Mildly intrigued but not an issue concerning him, so he simply looked away taking another sip.

Ienzo didn't really know what to say. He continued to look at the Neo-Shadow. Was it a renegade Heartless like himself? Or was it trained? Perhaps it was forced to follow the Light... Whatever the case, Ienzo was curious. He hadn't seen one like it. He waved to the creature.
Would it respond to Darkness?
If the creature was indeed Light, Ienzo didn't want to spark off any aggression. This definitely wasn't the place to test its alliance. The yellow eyes of the Neoshadow showed intelligence, the intelligence the advanced Heartless were born with. He knew those eyes well...
The Neo-Shadows were his to control, after all. Yet he didn't want to interfere with this... bond. This Neo-Shadow was no longer his to control.
Halen finished pumping the Darkness into the whatsit, then pushed the pile of now mostly busted technology over to Rose. She began reassembling it, sticking bits and pieces together. Because she had built the computer, no matter what happened to it, it never stayed broke for long. As she assembled it, Halen too noticed the grey haired man, who appeared to be... Waving? Halen snapped his fingers once, to get Rose's attention, and nodded towards the man. Man watching, he whispered to Rose. "The grey haired guy at the bar? I already saw him, she hissed back. Halen closed his eyes, and opened his heart wide. He took inventory of the bar. A few minor hearts, one major heart sitting in a booth close by, and... Man heart dark... Man Heartless...
"Heartless? I thought you were a Heartless?" she whispered. Man Heartless too... Man strong Heartless...
Rose turned, and looked at the Heartless man. "Yes? Can we help you?" she said loudly.
Ienzo nodded to the girl and her partner. "I was just wondering how you manage to keep the Claymores away from your friend there. I've never seen a tame one before, and I don't know anything about it, but I was just interested."
Ienzo shrugged. "I don't mean to press, but I would love to know how you two came to meet... If you wouldn't mind telling me the story."
The Heartless was actually quite interested. The creature, the way it was staring t him, obviously knew what he was, but did that make them an automatic enemy to him? He hoped not. This Neo-Shadow created a problem. If everybody began to befriend them, soon enough there would be spy or assassin Heartless running around within Radiant Garden's defenses. So perhaps if he knew how this one was tamed, he could stop others from being the same.
There was a balance in life. One tame Heartless was okay. But more might be a problem.
"Claymores? You talking about giant swords or mines?" The man asked another question, about how she and Halen met. Like it was that simple. Rose had been doing some research with her computer, and found out about Hearts, though the network she had hacked into didn't have much to say on the Heartless themselves. "How did we meet? Statistically speaking, our meeting was about as unlikely as getting struck by lightning five times in quick succession after winning the lottery. Its not as simple as that." She glanced around the bar. In the Wasteland, you never knew who was listening, and you couldn't know here either. Yelling across a bar whether crowded or empty was almost always a bad idea. "In the booth," she said to the Heartless man. Halen slipped under the table, and rejoined Rose's shadow.

Gerard was enjoying his drink nicely taking a glance around the room from time to time. He saw a silver-haired man get up and move over to another booth that was occupied. He seemed to be talking to her but he couldn't pick up anything on the conversation. He delicately took a sip as he saw the person who was sitting there seem to disappear. Strange... very strange. He summoned the left arm of Vayne silently as he positioned the eye on the arm to get a better look. He turned his own eyes away as he silently watched the two.
Ienzo smiled. He moved to where he was sitting in front of the duo and drank a sip of his tea. With slight irritation, he pushed his hair out of his face, revealing those silver eyes. The black hair fell to his shoulders, in a way very wild, yet tamed.
"It's nice to meet you. My name's Ienzo." He nodded to the girl and her Heartless friend, then lowered his voice. "I mean not to offend or intrude, but I was just wondering about the circumstances that make that Heartless follow you," he continued. "I myself don't dislike Heartless; I consider them just another part of the Worlds, but it's very rare to see one so... Tame."
Maybe tame wasn't the right word. The Heartless was its own being, Ienzo was sure. It had its own thoughts and actions, contrary to an ordinary pet. He awaited the girl's response, noting that a character at the bar had noticed them. His eyes slid back to meet hers as the guy looked back to them. Maybe it was just his paranoia, or maybe it was because he still didn't trust the people in this bar, but he didn't like people watching him.
"Look, I know you're a Heartless. Halen can tell. And he told me. Secondly, he follows me because we have a connection between our Hearts. Last night, I hacked this town's computer network, and found some interesting files. One of them pertained to Hearts. Halen and I have something called Resonance." Rose continued to reassemble her computer, and added, "By the way, I'm Rose. Now, I've told you what you wanted to know. It's your turn. What exactly is a Heartless?"

So the Neo-Shadow could talk to her... What is a Heartless? Well, that was... Not hard at all. But what would she think when she realized what her little friend was? The steely-eyed Heartless put a finger to his lip as he thought of how to word it. Not that he cared what she felt, he just didn't want another human to hate him without good reason.
He sighed. "Heartless... Are monsters of Darkness. They eat Hearts. The Hearts that fall to them turn into Heartless as well." He tapped his fingers on the table as he thought of something else to say. "A Heartless is a Heart consumed by Darkness, one that feeds off of the Darkness in others' Heart."
He shrugged. "That's all there is to say, I suppose."
Rose facepalmed. "That much I know. I just have no frigging idea what it means. When you say heart, do you mean the central part of a person's cardio-vascular system, or something metaphysical, like a soul? You say the Heartless eat hearts, then turn around and say that those hearts are... what was the word, consumed by darkness and turned into heartless. I'm not easily confused, Ienzo, but you and everyone I've talked to on the matter confuse the hell out of me." Rose shook her head and sighed. "I'm not getting any usable facts here. Can you be a little more... in depth? I'd think a Heartless would know more about his species than anyone else."
