In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

There is a difference between changing initial canon and changing RP history. This is something that's been built up by the actual players here, a fair chunk, over a long period of time. There comes a point where changing just is one massive plot hole, and we've already gone through this before with another Cloud. Initial deviations are different; if this was something that had been set down just a while ago it would be easier to change. It certainly is something I will consider, and have placed actual thought into. I'm not the only one, either.
Just for the record, before this goes further, I'd like to say that if this turns into simple argument and not debate, I will pull out of replying to this thread. I've no desire to simply argue; it solves nothing once it reaches that point.

...There's only -- what? -- say about five of you? >>;; /sarcasm
What I'm initially saying is this canon of yours ostracizes other people from playing the characters they want to, let them partake in the reindeer games.
Hell! I believe I've mentioned before that you don't even have to RP with them -- nor does anyone else involved with your monopoly on the FF7 universe. You can continue your merry little way and they will go their own. It's that simple.
Why should a number of potential role-players be barred from having fun with the character of their choosing? At the whim of a minority just because they've been singing the same old song for a year?
Even the oldest inset constitutions have the potential to change drastically and suddenly, if only given the tiniest of efforts.
Honestly, there's not much that needs changing, and if you've taken the chance to ask people beyond your circle, you may find a solution everyone agree upon.
Also, is not this very site -- whole site plot -- going under a complete revision? Yes, it's taken forever, but that is because there is absolutely no cooperation between administration and members. Maybe you can make an example? Unlikely.
This is not an argument. I am merely trying to advocate desperately needed fairness amongst members.
And there, I'm done with this. I've said my fair share of things. Take it or -- the more likely option -- leave it.
Just remember, there are more of us outside the circle than within. Stepping outside it is not a challenge, a dangerous trek, a declaration of war. It is a milestone.
Who knows what may become of it.
P.S. - PLOTHOLES ARE FUN. =D They demand creativity to mend them.
There is a difference between changing initial canon and changing RP history.
No, there really isn't. If there's any difference to make clear, it's that changing confirmed canon history is usually a tactical no-no, and the many people who agree with this side of the opinion back that. Changing RP history is easy, simple, and happens all the time. It's a part of ever-adapting to the people who populate your site. Making them change for you? Honestly, it's just bad business. This sites own plot is never-moving, aside from individual efforts. There is hardly a main plot to speak of, and that which does include the Final Fantasy characters is quite minute. But given it's own fanbase and desire for members to take place in it, there is no reason whatsoever to cement over something that, frankly, couldn't hurt to advance itself.
There comes a point where changing just is one massive plot hole,
It seems to have made its own.
It certainly is something I will consider, and have placed actual thought into. I'm not the only one, either.
No one is asking for a complete reversal of all your work. Just some sort of compromise where people on both sides can be content, and not feel rejected. At the very least, like their opinion was heard, and not discounted.
Just for the record, before this goes further, I'd like to say that if this turns into simple argument and not debate, I will pull out of replying to this thread. I've no desire to simply argue; it solves nothing once it reaches that point.
And as I've said before, I have no intent to argue over debate. But there is a request being made by a portion of this site's populace to address the issues with the canon system. Not everyone gets it, for one, and I don't see why you should expect everyone to go through and read all the FF characters profiles to attempt to fill in the blanks that aren't even addressed therein.
I'm not mad about this topic, so there's no use in making it an argument. I'm not bitter, or up in arms. This thread was made because, according to Roxas, Mod input on how to make this site more functional and friendly was slim to none; so she turned to the members and now this thread is over nine pages long. The members use this as a voice as well. If something resembling a mutually-beneficial idea comes up and is shot down, that's one thing. But to flat-out say this is how it's going to be is something else entirely.
Quickly, discussion changer! Excuse if the 'c' doesn't show one of our cats messed it up...
In any case, this seems like a well run site, personally I don't think that any FF7 characters should be banned to it being and rpg and from what I've seen quite a few awesome profiles have gone through for Zach or Vincent, only to be rejected for a history that would easily be explained and those people ould play those characters. Rpging shouldn't be restricted beause this is a way for the fans to express themselves and get their fanboys and girls on. Restrictions are good, but if members have ideas that can work to go around those character restrictions that make senses, then why not, after all its a writing site not life or death.
Now one thing that does kind of get my goat, is the slow turnover rate for character bios. Yes, I realize you guys hate people asking and you have your own lives. But waiting almost a week for a bio to be approved can be very disheartening for many new members and out of fustration might leave for supposive greener pastures. Some might say, 'Well good, that means they're not serious about the site and who needs them.' In reality, we needs these new people, that's how we get new ideas, more character confrontations, and plots. So yes the Application Approval Squad might be busy and loathes the bothering of ever hopeful applicants. But maybe there's a easy fix for this, maybe a day out of the week where bios are approved, each week each Mod takes a turn approving the bios. This would narrow down the whiney complaints of, 'omg look at my bio!!!' pms and also give new members an idea when they can start playing.
Regarding Evelyn's post: I agree with some kind of fixed schedule. Everyone would be happier if there was something that says when profiles are going to get checked. Then the mods won't get nagged about it incessantly, and if it /doesn't/ get done on time, /then/ the members can complain.
As for the Final Fantasy mess/argument/what-have-you, I'unno. Keeping continuity is important, but both sides of this argument can claim continuity on their side. What I'd like to speak on, instead, is meaning. If a character makes a grand a noble sacrifice for his or her friends and allies, well, that's just great, innit? It's meaningful, it makes for great story, so on and so forth. But if that character gets revived five minutes later? Well... what's the point? Big whoop.
Now, I'm no expert on FF7 lore, and in fact I turn to Seph to any questions on the matter, but unless I'm mistaken, several of the characters would not be who they are or the way they are if certain other characters, say, for example, Zack, hadn't died. I'm not certain of the specifics, though.
True. I'm also a big believer in that death shouldn't just be a revolving door. It should be permanent and it should mean something. But in the rewritten version here, Zack died, whereas FF7 continuity had him die 5 years later. 5 years AFTER Sephiroth, so if anyone should have stayed dead...
Vincent didn't know anyone to leave an impact on, so he out of the two of them should still have an excuse to be played here.
In either situation, this isn't a Final Fantasy board. It's Kingdom Hearts, where dead people [Aerith, Sephiroth, Tidus] are known to be alive and well, simply because the writers of the game never used Final Fantasy plots as a template to work from. They were simply characters with a fanbase, pure and simple. There is no mention of Cloud and Zack having the same relationship in KH, so why should they here? And even should the two people who RP them decide to interact, like Cadence said, finding a way out of a plothole, should you really choose to call it that, demands creativity. As a site that flaunts being for more advanced writers, I don't see why that should be a big issue.
EDIT>> With what Evelyn said, maybe there could even be a position specifically for looking through profiles, and accepting/denying/making notes on them. That way they don't sit around for weeks [or months, as is the case with one], and the other Moderators don't need to add that to their list of things-to-do.

Luckily, I've never had to wait that long. But I do agree that being an Instructor-person is a job and must be carried out as such. It's sort of like a responsibility, like a house chore.
Short post gives good point ((Even though I'm sure it's already been given at least three times.))
I agree with Rook... it's true that the KH storyline has nothing to do with the FF storylines and/or plots. Yes, Cloud and Sephiroth are still mutual enemies in the KH series, HOWEVER, like with Rook said, the relationships are different in Kingdom Hearts. Aerith is dead in Final Fantasy 7, so why should she be making an appearance in Kingdom Hearts? Cloud does not act as if she had been dead for god knows how long... and as stated before, there's no mention of Zack in the KH series in the bios of Aerith, Cloud, Cid or Yuffie. Vincent is also not mentioned in listed bios.
Why not just give people a chance? I mean, if there's a character that they want to play, I say go for it. I mean, you even have all the Organization members alive and well! Does that even make any sense? Sora defeated them all within the series, and I'm pretty certain that this forum's plot takes place after the journey and the defeating of the members was all said and done. Make sense much? Not really.
And Leon, Seph... I'm really sorry to be speaking against you, as I do know you both in real life, but look at this a little more reasonably. Please.
Maybe on of your primary duties can be profile admissions before other tasks, while the other two take care of business as usual. It cuts down on new members asking about profiles, which is a known hastle for the mods, and keeps profiles from mounting up to where you "don't have time to look at them right now".
And Shiay? My 2cents as far as I think this thread should go, it's specifically made for disagreements and open discussions on how to fix/enhance/clarify things. I don't think anyone or anything here is "unreasonable". If apologies are necessary, it's gone too far past the point of politics and ideas. There's nothing wrong with sharing your thoughts on the matters at hand, regardless of if you agree or disagree with them.
And for those who may feel I'm digging too deep on matters (Seph), I'm really not trying to come off as a jerk or a snub-nosed force of opposition. I'm just trying to help make things more easily understood.
I agree with Rook. I've been around my fair share of RPBs (as I'm sure most of you have), and quite honestly, and nothing personal (esp. since I haven't actually been on this board for long) but usually if there is an issue with mods, the solution isn't to increase the amount of mods there are. The solution usually is to flatout replace them. Mentioning this as this topic is open for disagreements etc.
EDIT:: Since some people are hastey to play hero, I think its important to take note: I AM NOT SAYING THAT THESE MODS SHOULD REPLACE OR STEP DOWN. I was saying that I've been in many boards and usually when this sort of things happens, the mods get replaced. I never said in this post that THESE mods weren't doing their job or need to be replaced.
As for the Final Fantasy thing, I would think its fine for people to take characters even if they apparently 'died' in the KH game. I also think its irrelevant if they died in an FF game. I mean, some of the character ages don't even scale (e.g Squall and Seifer). Do we have to feel that the board has to stick as close and possible to the games? I think it would be nice to see the board as a sort of 'Alternative Universe' to KH, where things are the same and all, same canon characters with their same occupations, but as of the start of the boards storyline, thats where things can branch off from the game, and the introduction of canon characters are 'cameos (big long cameos of course).
However it can be tough to legitametly state how a certain FF character came to be and what they did before the invasion of Radient Garden, I think if the person wanting to be that character RPs them very very well, then they can make a 'plot-holed' background?
Yes of course sorry, I wasn't trying to imply discipline or anything. It would be best to arrange a win/win situation between mods and users, but when mods fail to live up to the role they volunteered for, then give it to someone else who will. Mods are there to 'mod', not complain about users.

Mods have a life, too, you know.... And just because they can't do certain things because of what in real life situations dish out to them doesn't mean they should automatically lose their positions. They can't just sit in front of their computer all the time and reply to everyone's every little whim and complaint. They only complain about users because said users won't leave them alone about certain issues. I can see how it gets annoying.
Of course mods have a life, which is why they can easily step down for a while because of a rl situation. Its not like they're being paid to mod after all. And I have yet to see any users make a silly 'little complaint' (not that I can read PMs).
The other thing is: YES there are definately people who will make a profile then after lets say an hour they begin to throw a pm at every character mod, which is annoying but it also shouldn't be used as an excuse to go "How dare you ask me! I'm not gonna mod it at all now!". Because we know there are issues with people waiting over three days or even a week for their profile to be accepted and they can't even let out a hint to a mod about it in fear that they will get the same treatment.
