In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Dusting her hands off, she went towards the cupboards and reached up high on her toes to fetch some teacups; she may give them a good scrubbing if they weren't clothing dust in Merlin's pouch, but to her amazement they were spotless.
How does he do that?! The redheaded questioned to herself, while placing the cups on a spare spot on the countertop. If she ever was going on a vacation, she knew who to go to pack light and neartly.
With most of the work down, which was rather therapeutic, Kairi leaned against the countertop only to give a little jump to sit on it. Her knees naturally stayed locked together, a costum distilled in her after wearing so many skirts and dresses, but that didn't stopped her legs to casually sway to and fro. With her moment of reprieve, she spent it just watching him. It's been years since they've been in each others company, so it almost felt like observing something totally new yet familiar at the same time.
She almost squealed and wiggled in delight once he agreed, but it only emitted out in a meek squeak; it was about time she learned something new and at least with someone she knew. For a while now, she would sneak out the city to practice on her own only to scurry back when the heartless overwhealm her. Naturally she never strayed to far from safety as long as its in a short running distance.
With a toothless smile reaching up to her cheeks, she chuckled muffled in a hum, "But I think I like the sound of Master Kuu. It kinda suits you. Even now with agreeing to help me, you're so nice and humble about it, and you were always the smart one despiiiiiite how much you used to doze off."
She wasn't one to talk about school; although she kept her grades up probably way better than Sora, Kairi was a natural procrastinator. One would think through all of those stressed out moments of being piled up on assignments, that she would stop such bad habit, but to majority surprise, she always made it through with flying colors for her caliber. Now she found herself giggling about old school times before drifting off watching him.
Despite how so much changed, some things just stayed the same, and while she entranced herself to staring, the kettle slowly started its whistling.
Kuu let out a short burst of laughter at Kairi's abrupt squeal of happiness, both at the strangeness of the sound and how happy she was at such a small thing. 'What was that?' he said as he pulled a face from his laughing. 'That's got to be the first time I've heard you make a sound like that.'
As the kettle began to whistle its readiness, Kuu removed it from its place on the stove and placed it upon the tabletop. For lack of a spoon, he simply shook some of the tea leaves from the tin into the teapot, before quickly pouring the boiling water into it, eyes closing briefly as he took in the expanding scent of the tea as the steam brought it rising into the air. 'We'll just let that seep for a while,' he said, smiling.
'And anyway,' he said with a wicked grin, returning to his position against the tabletop, 'If I recall, you weren't that averse to some hardcore slacking yourself, Miss Always-On-The-Islands-With-My-Two-Guy-Friends.'
He smiled, thinking back to those times when he had also hung out from time to time at those tiny islands which seemed a world unto their own. It was there that he and Kairi had shared that lonely conversation, upon the beach of that island. Looking at her now, even as she had blossomed into womanhood, there was a childlike curl at the edge of her lips. She had lost those traces of baby fat about her face and the spikes of her longer auburn hair now draped gracefully over slender, rosy cheeks. She had grown to be a beautiful young woman. But that was easy to see - behind that smile, he saw the touches of time. Shoulders that stood the burden of helplessness, hands that had reached out for an eternity, fingers that had just brushed but eventually been unable to grasp what it had reached for. And her eyes - they were no longer the content gaze of ignorance. Behind that childish, sparkling glaze, they were eyes that had waited.
As Kuu watched Kairi, he couldn't repress the thought fast enough before it sprang unbidden into his head:

That boisterous laugh made her cheeks pinkened, while her eyes blinked like an innocent doe unsure of what just happened. Yet laughs were contagious as a, "Hee," broke from her lips.
"It's the sooound of utter jooooy that you bring Master Kuu," she exaggerated dramatically to pave over her brief embarrassment and self-consciousness, while smiling like a little mischevious imp once finding a new nickname for Kuu to poke and tease it. But it immediately dwindled down into an abrupt 'I DIDN'T DO IT!' baby face towards his sinister smile.
Wooo when could he pull that off, as her eyes shifted, while she watched him getting closer, "Mmhm?"
'If I recall, you weren't that averse to some hardcore slacking yourself, Miss Always-On-The-Islands-With-My-Two-Guy-Friends.'
Her face stretched in mock shock at the accusation, "Heeeey that was nooot hardcore, and we still got stuff done. Well then again I did slowly help put that raft together."
Self-conscious she commenced biting her fingernail thinking about their constant runaways to the islands only to pretty much put the workload of raft craftmanship on the boys. Chuckling to herself, she rememebered when Riku was the first to point out her lazy tendency, but regardless they'd loved her anyways quirk, flaws, and all. But how much slack would they give her for leaving? This wasn't a mere friendly bonding of building a raft, but a strain on what they had for leaving without saying anything or have them come with her. Noticing that she was going down similar depressing paths of thoughts, she perked up, then nudged Kuu with an elbow.
"But don't worry I won't slack off on you, Master Kuu. You'll have my fuuuull undivided attention," now she was practically bouncing in her seat in excitement as she was finally getting a leg up over things. At least she would officially have something to show for progress from her long departure and stay in Radiant Garden. In her mind, she began fantasizing about it all, these little teaching sessions, and when she was ready and stable off of Radiant Garden she goes towards a new one, Then it'll all start.
But would she be able to leave so easily? This world easily became her secondary home, despite it being her true origin to begin with. Funny how earlier with Reno, she told him she really was attached to this place, and now she was. There were people she knew and cared for no matter how dysfunctional they could be like Yuffie. There was the overall committee, Tifa, Rachael, Reno who was probably being a lazy bum with his vices, and now Kuu. Asking him to come with her didn't cross her mind, since a lot had gone on through their lives within three years apart. He made a life for himself with his trade, so she wasn't one competent or influential enough to drag him from it to go world hopping with her.
Gaaah snap out of it before he thinks something's wrong with you, and knowing him he probably already did, "So when do we start...and how will it take for those leaves to brew?"
Kuu laughed at Kairi's bright responses. How long had it been since he'd laughed with friends like this? His new solitary life in Radiant Garden made it difficult for him to meet anybody, and hearing his own laughter brought back memories of times spent in happier worlds - the pools of Atlantis, the streets of Twilight Town, the beaches of Destiny Islands. Maybe... maybe even with all the chaos his condition had inflicted on him, he wondered if they wouldn't have been so lonely if he wasn't the only one disappearing all the time. But of course, his wasn't a burden he would willingly place upon anyone, least of all Kairi.
...Where did that last thought come from? he thought, inwardly shaking his head.
'I think we can go after we've finished the tea,' he said in reply to her following question. 'And incidentally, I think it's quite ready now.'
He lifted the lid of the teapot, and gave a pleased smile as he caught its fully released scent rise from its contents. Taking the two cups Kairi had uncovered, he carefully poured the tea in equal measures (it was the height of bad manners to give someone else less than yourself). He handed one to Kairi and lifted his own towards her slightly as he said with a tilt of his lips, 'Cheers.'
The tea was fruitier than he had initially thought - an infusion of cinnamon and other spices with berry-like fruits, he thought. There was definitely a sweet tang about it which indicated summer berries. It was relaxing and he felt some of the tension upon not only his body but his mind wash away. For a wizard, certainly, it seemed Merlin had good taste.
'Come to think of it, Kairi...' he said absent-mindedly, 'Why do you want to learn magic?'
Kuu caught himself as he said it. Why had he asked that question so forwardly? He glanced down at the cup he was holding. Surely not...?

"Cheers," she replied with delight with an incline of her cup. Drawing it closer to her mouth, she just inhaled its scent, and let its warmth brush against her face. It smelled...unusual to say the least, since it was nothing like what she had at home, yet it was just as alluring. In that case, she should surely linger around Merlin for tea tips. With a sip, she felt her frame flush with heat causing her muscels to melt creating a lax mass.
Now she just basked in the smells and warmth of tea, while leaning back until her head rested on one of the cabinets in the kitchen. Her legs still swayed loosely and carefree as she took her time sip by sip. Being whisked away on a steamy cloud Kairi barely heard Kuu, but acknowledged him with a hum, while a goofy smile spread on her face.
'Why do you want to learn magic?'
Her eyes opened as the question fully aroused her from daydreaming. Now to figure out how to answer him without dumping the motherload of the daily life of Kairi and all that comes with it including being a Princess of Heart and a Keyblade wielder. Evidentally those particular reasons explained everything, but the tea had laxed her mind so much that she just answered him casually, "Mmm because I have to. I'll worry so many people if I'm too vulnerable, and you can say I have a tendency to be at the wrong place at the wrong time...unintentionally of-course. The better my offenses and defenses the less worries there will be and the more comfortable I'll be amongst the worlds."
She chuckled remembering other's expression of protectiveness; she rather not even think about Sora and Riku, since that dilemna was unresolved. Reno would watch over her...and even follow, "Yuffie was going to whap you earlier if I didn't knew you. Hmmm I don't want people worrying about me; it's quite a strain...waiting and worrying."
She brought the cup up towards her lips for a sip to get drunk off its spices and warmth, "The worlds won't always be kind, so I might as well prepare myself for the good, the bad, and the ugly, especially when it can be right around the corner..."
like those heartless that wandered in the shadows waiting for the oppurtune moment to pounce.
Kuu sighed. 'Yeah, tell me about it,' he said, taking another sip from his cup. This tea was really quite interesting. He must remember to make note of it and come back to visit Merlin to ask of its origin. He wondered if it wouldn't be a bad thing to have for his shop. 'It's certainly not getting any safer out there. But I wouldn't have taken any "whapping" lying down anyway,' he added with a slight tilt of his lips.
It's all very well wanting to know how to defend yourself, but there's certainly something more to Kairi wanting to learn magic of all things as a defensive measure, he thought. And she said offense as well as defense... which means that she means to use it actively. There aren't a lot of ordinary ruffians about who would need such extremeties to scare away... and it looks like her basics are already down.
Kuu's expression darkened ever so slightly as he touched upon a thought. Destiny Islands are certainly far safer than here. So why would she go to such an extent to leave a safe haven - especially since there aren't many ways to get off that world - to come to Radiant Garden, which is crawling with hostiles?
It suddenly occurred to Kuu that Kairi was far less ordinary than he had thought. There was something definitely unique about her not just as an individual, but her place in the world. She had been taken under the wing of the Radiant Garden Committee despite having inferior combat ability to the other members and being relatively young. Yuffie had treated her with friendliness, but he had read a different kind of concern from that of a worried friend in her protectiveness towards her. The deduction that Kairi was somehow very important unsettled him, but also made him somewhat a little sad. Of all people, he didn't want Kairi to be given a place in a world of conflict and suffering.
He downed his tea quickly. 'I think we should get to this as soon as possible,' he said, a little more briskly than he intended. 'Come on, I think the rain's let up a little.'
Rinsing the cup quickly, he gathered up the pile of books he had left on the side and making sure they were secure in his arms, he turned round to wait for Kairi to follow.

Kairi giggled picturing Kuu's own rebuttal against a crazed Yuffie; the image of him trying to stop her passively as possible amused her with Yuffie's unorthodox methods, but she didn't doubt or ponder if a vigorous fire would boil within him. She never recall seeing Kuu angry or angered, so seeing how much of a gentlemen he was, she didn't think of it being possible due to his good character. Yet he never gave her a reason to think it wasn't impossible.
Blue amethyst tinted eyes opened at Kuu's recent anxiety; he wanted to start right now. Following suit, she drank down as much of what's left as quick as possible. But she didn't gulp it all down; she rather not lug around feeling like a half filled gallon of water as tea slush around in her stomach. Placing her teacup in the sink, she followed suit. For a moment, she wondered how was more excited for these lessons him or her.
Regardless, she wasn't going to complain about it and would happily be compliant, while trying to push her giddiness at bay and resisting from bouncing on her toes, "Lead the way Master Kuu."
