In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Darkun ... or rather Dawa was excited, the dusks where swarming him, he loved the thrill, the excitement of tearing there heart lacking bodies apart. He jumped into the air, slamming his blades through a dusk, it disappearing into a puff of smoke before his very eyes. Quickly he parried as a dusk extended its arms at him, the parry was almost successful, and his arm was grazed. He grinned lightly; Deep down Dawa knew what he was even if Darkun didn't. This is what gave him his fun. He rose a large wall of shadow, it appearing up from his own shadow, rising and then swooping down at the dusk that had grazed him, it morphed suddenly, becoming spike ridden and clamped around the dusk; crushing it to naught... not that it ever was anything but nothingness.
He slowly slew the final few nobodies around him, in his rage and state of mind, oblivious to the girl who had a dusk growing ever closer to her. Dawa stopped, standing still and breathing lightly, absorbing this thrill of false emotion... He loved every bit of it. The tendrils from his form had grown shorter, dissipating into the air, his markings stopped glowing, and he slowly returned to his original Darkun self.
Darkun stood there, drained of energy. Fighting as Dawa really took its toll on Darkun's body, he had not yet mastered any of his abilities but for Dawa it was easy, alas the ability of the soul is useless if the body cannot withstand it. Glancing back at the girl, he finally noticed the dusk. Even if he tried to use his shadows (which he wouldn't of been able to do now) it wouldn’t be fast enough. He stood there... he waited for what he saw as the inevitable future... the girls death.
" Run, do something" he shouted and pleaded at the girl, he didn’t want to lose his only friend to some mere dusk, but it could not be helped, he watched hopelessly.

((Kay, this is happening at the same time as your fight. Simultaneously an' all.))
The long silver thing swooped and swalluped, and at the last moment she surged up to meet it - and slid past it, around behind it. These things never seemed to have any persistence of perception, and could never figure this trick out. It stopped dead, all twisted up, head-thing darting back and forth. quick as though, Lily clamped her arm around its shoulders, through her knees into its back, and stuck her hand inside the zipper of its mouth. With all her might, she pulled, putting her back into it.
The Dusk's head tore quite satisfactorily. it deflated, fluttering to the ground and dissolving as it went.
"I hate it when they dissolve - I always think I must be breathing them."

( sorry this ones a bit of a short one)
Darkun turned around after finishing his fight just in time to see the Dusk dissipate into the ground. He was... shocked, the girl looked like she didn't do much fighting yet she had just defeated a Dusk without breaking a sweat. Darkun still had his blades out, he stared at them for a few seconds, this was strange, and they usually dissipated after the fight was done. " So, you can fight as well, impressive. Don’t you have any other weapons?" He glared over to her, probably seeming to be putting too much effort into the stare.
He walked over to her slowly, still quite drained, his blades still drawn, as he got closer to her, his blades within inches of her, they dissipated into nothing. -About Time- He thought to himself. " Are you ok?" He asked the girl politely. “ Are you well enough to continue? Talking about continuing where in this house do you want to go?" It was strange, he was enjoying himself with her, she didn’t care about what he did or said and she was funny. He glared over to the stairs and then returned his glare back over to the girl.
"I got..." she thought for a moment. "I got a pocketknife!"
She dusted off her knees as he came over and said, "Nha, it didn't tag me. Why's this place so popular, anyway?" She didn't mind about where they went; like she'd said, she'd never been here before.
((No, see, that's short. Lily has no internal monologue.))

-Heh a pocketknife, that that will protect her. - He thought this, almost out loud. " Well, want to go see this weird room that I know about? It's up the stairs" Darkun motioned at the stairs and began his accent up them.
Darkun eventually reached the top, turning quickly to the right and entering the door there, as he flung it open the large set of out of place stairs lay there. The bookcases around it seemed so normal and rustic for this house, the stairs; mechanical almost unreal. He stared at them for a good length of time, half waiting for the girl to catch up, half waiting for him to snap out of his trance. He took a few steps forwards, stopping just as he reached the stairs.
" This is what I wanted to see... I want to know what its all about down there" He wasn't even sure if the girl was behind him or not, he was too transfixed.
Well, that was twice and no response - she'd come back to it. meanwhile, she followed the tatterboy up the stairs. if she'd been leading, she'd have stood in the middle of the room and spun to pick a room, so it was likely best she wasn't leading.
Lily looked in the door after him. "Oh," she said, sounding surprised. "Someone forgot to close the floor." That was going to make it hard to get to most of the books.
She walked to the edge of the floor, pausing to look down past her toes and down the wall. There was a gleam in her eyes - the kind that wouldn't mean anything to someone who didn't know her, but would be... worrisome, to one who did.

For a few more moments Darkun stood there, pre-occupied with merely staring downwards at the ...floor? No more like the stairs? Eventually he coughed up " I don't know why people come here... but I know why I'm here, and the answer must be down there, I’m sure of it. This is the first place I remember."
He took a step forwards, then another. That’s it, one step at a time he told himself. He finally reached the bottom and was taken back by what he saw. It was destroyed, everything destroyed, and he couldn’t remember it being this way... Then again he didn't remember much aside from the location. The girl... She spoke of forget-me-not... Why did that mean something to him? He was sure he had heard it before...
Darkun stared around the cast amounts of rubble and debris, what looked to be some kind of console stood demolished, shards of the screen smashed over the floor. Why did he come here? What did he expect to find... " I... Don't even know what I’m looking for,” He mumbled, " Why did I bother coming here." Then he remembered the tone the girl had used, strange she seemed to always be so ... excited? " What’s wrong? You seem a bit off" He spoke outwards, not knowing if she had followed him down or not, still hoping she was with him. He didn't want to do this alone.
Lily watched the boy from where she stood as he descended, as he stared around the room. He looked so... lost.
"I should be asking you," she said in reply, her brash voice softened. Then, with a strange half-grin, she answered his unasked question, "It's a game. It goes,
Roses in red Sing forget-me-not-blues, What would you gain? What will you lose?"
She jumped down, leaving the subject. In her normal tone she said, "Someone sure did a number on this, dinnt they."

( This is starting to get interesting ;p)
Darkun listened to this little game of hers... It made sense, well to Darkun it did. To most it would probably seem like pointless babble. " But... I lost everything... so what did I gain?" He looked at her, he had already found a flaw to this little game and it upset him, he so much wanted it to be true.
Darkun looked around again. " Yeah... its pretty destroyed, wonder what happened... Maybe the answers survived, whatever the answer’s are." He took a few steps forwards to the destroyed computer; examining the destroyed screen, the asunder torn keyboard, and several keys had survived but it would make little difference. Darkun stepped to another pile of debris, examining it closely, some kind of device? Shards of curved metal, looked like a ring of some description.
Finally he looked over to his left... there it was. He walked over to it, grabbing the large pieces of debris, throwing them to the sides " its here, something’s here!" He removed a larger piece and behind the debris, was a door. Shut, but a shut door would pose no problem for him. He stood there, staring at the door, clearing the debris; the girl would surely still be here.
"Well, that's part of the game." She pitched in to help clear the door. Whatever they where looking for, she'd look. What did that matter that it wasn't her quest? It hardly ever was.
"What are the questions?" This was rhetorical.

" I don't like this game" Darkun mused. This was turning out to be good, he was even more shocked when Lilly came over and started removing rubble " You might hurt yourself" he commented as she lifted large pieces of debris from the door. He smiled; strange, he never smiled. Regardless he continued to remove the rubble and finally the door was there, locked, but it was clear of Debris.
Darkun was faced with a slight problem... Sure /he/ could phase through the door no problem... but what about Lily? Could she get through the door some how? Was there perhaps a device on the other side... probably not. " Lily." This was the first time he’d used his name in his head, but he now used it out loud as well " Don’t be scared, and don’t let go" He slowly extended his hand and placed it on her shoulder " Im gonna drag you through the door with me… is that ok?" Darkun didn't know how she would react to this, so he waited for her reply.
In the mean time his mind wondered around the room, thinking what secrets could be stored, if all this was destroyed, perhaps the culprit couldn’t get into the next room? Maybe that’s why it was locked... maybe he could finally find some answers to all these questions which where starting to give im a migraine thinking about them constantly cant of been good for his mental health... pfft.
((Er- Don't think they ever introduced themselves. You don't know her name.))
That wasn't surprising; hardly anyone liked that game. At least, not from his angle.
"Pishh," was her only response to his concern, as she wedged under a particularly stubborn piece and heaved it out of the way. 'Might hurt herself' didn't top her list of worries.
Locked, huh? She prodded the lock on the door -- but if he had a better way? He took her shoulder and explained.
"You can try." She quirked an eyebrow at him as she looped her arms around his shoulders. "If it's not working, don't push it, a'right?"

Darkun passed his shadow over the girl, but he felt something… this wasn’t right. He felt as if this girl wasn’t even there, as if he was trying to make thin air intangible… “ Strange… I can’t get a fix on you, its like trying to find nothing.” He tried a few more times but failed miserably in his attempts. “ So… this puts a hamper on our plans… any other ideas? I could blow up the door but it would be a bit messy, and I don’t want to damage the door.” He glared over at the sealed door. Then staring around the room, nothing could be done.
He looked back to the girl, “ What are you” he said calmly “ Your not normal…” Pfft, Darkun was one to talk, then again he could’ve phrased it better “ I mean, its like you don’t even exist. I’ve never had this problem before.” He slowly turned to look at the girl. Then it hit him, he didn’t know /the girl’s/ name “ What do people call you?”
Lily stood there and let him try several times, let him put it together for himself. This was a fairly decent reaction, really, better than a lot she'd gotten. It probably helped that this place had so many disparate powers -- and that he hadn't been an enemy finding out when stuff didn't hurt her.
Quite cheerful, she said, "They call me Lily, 'cause that's what I tell them my name is. Which it is, so that works out all right." With a sideways smile, she continued, "They call me a lot of other things, too, but that one works best."
"Explosions are just so final, you know? And I for one like my eardrums." She considered the door. "I kinda suck at picking locks, but I can give it a try. You want'a see if it's bolted from the other side?"
Post by darkunslint on Apr 3, 2009 11:42:09 GMT -4
Darkun was slightly concerned how she hadn’t actually answered his question; she seemed to draw away from the topic of what the hell she was. Being able to resist a power like that meant that she probably was immune to most magick’s; he didn’t feel any darkness about her so obviously she wasn’t simply immune to darkness. “ You didn’t answer my question” He announced, “ What are you to be able to be immune to my powers?” He was never much one for small talk.
The idea of lock picking felt like a good one, this way he didn’t have to waste energy and risk damaging anything that could be of use to reclaiming his memory on the other side. “ Lock picking would be a good plan, I’m still feeling a bit weakened from those dusks, think I over did it a bit… or rather Dawa did” The last bit he mumbled. If this girl could lock pick the door, it would mean saving a lot of effort, even if it did take longer Darkun had all the time in the world; he was defiantly not going anywhere.
