In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Hearing his acknowledgment of the bird that she was pointing out, Kirata dropped her hand back to her side and then took in a breath. Teaching someone wasn't something that she normally did, but she was going to her best at it! Whatever she could do to help her friends made her happy. She looked back to Kaze and then exhaled with a smile.
"Okay... so how I learned how to do Slow or Haste was I was told to imagine my target speeding up or slowing down..." Kirata paused to recollect her thoughts and then continued, "then the next step was to focus my mana and have that 'image' actually take effect."
With that, Kirata waved her arm towards the bird, a small icicle forming and hitting the post and making sure not to hit the bird. As soon as the icicle hit, Kira's hands started to glow a soft blue and as soon as the bird rose it's wings to take off... it seemed to stay suspended where it was. The only thing that could be seen was the fact that the bird's wings were still moving, just a lot slower than before.

Kaze watches the bird slow, half in amazement, half in denial. He believed it was real, he was just in denial that he could pull that off.
"Wait, how do you 'focus your mana'?" he asked, a bit confused by the term. He had never really heard that tern used before. Plus, if he didn't even know what something meant, he was bound not to know how to do it.
(Sorry for the crappy post, but I needed to get something here DDDx)
'How do you focus your mana?' That... was a good question.
Kirata kept the bird in the slow spell and turned to Kaze, trying to explain to the best of her ability, "Uh... well... um... The way you focus your mana would be... hmmm..." Kira paused to think of the way she was going to explain this, her spell starting to waver. As soon as the bird regained it's natural movement, it flew to a branch and stayed there. Well, that was good, at least their target didn't fly off too far away.
"The way you focus mana... okay, out of curiosity, do you feel this..." here, Kira brought her hands close together as she tried to form her question, "... this... uh... kind of flow through your body?"

[/i]"The way you focus mana... okay, out of curiosity, do you feel this... ... this... uh... kind of flow through your body?"[/i]
Kaze thought for a moment. A flow through his body? He paused and seemingly meditated shortly to see if he could find it. A flow running through his body... A flow of what? His blood? He was almost sure that wasn't what she meant. He kept thinking, and for a split second he could swear he felt something- something other than his blood- flow through him. It wasn't quite large, in fact it was below average. Kaze wasn't suited to magic, and his body knew that.
"Yeah, a little bit. Maybe because I'm not experienced?" Experience... His thoughts immediately shifted to his levitating abilities. Sure, he was a bit experienced in that, but what of other kinds of magic? He wasn't sure, but all kinds of magic would help him and he decided to learn as much as he could.
The ginger-haired girl merely grinned at the response that Kaze gave her and replied, "okay! Yeah, that faint flow is the mana flowing through your body. It's not supposed to be a strong current, as it flows through your entire body instead of select parts." Kirata walked over closer to Kaze and looked up at him then looked over to the bird to make sure it hadn't flown off. Thankfully, it hadn't.
"Before we begin to actually do the spell... I want to see if you ca focus-- will your mana-- to your hands," at this, Kirata brought up her own hands, a faint white light emitting from them, "it may be a little painful, or 'dynamic', as my magic trainer described to me, but that's because the mana will be then focused in one or two areas on your persona." With that, Kira stopped focusing her mana to her hands and the light dimmed and faded.
She turned her gaze to Kaze's hands for a brief moment and then looked up at him, waiting for him to comply to her 'teaching'. It's not that Kirata didn't trust her teaching capability, it was the fact that she wasn't skilled in teaching, whatsoever. Oh well... wonders never cease to happen?

"Before we begin to actually do the spell... I want to see if you ca focus-- will your mana-- to your hands, it may be a little painful, or 'dynamic', as my magic trainer described to me, but that's because the mana will be then focused in one or two areas on your persona."
Kaze thought about this for a minute. How could this be painful if she could do it like it was nothing? Well, still, he guessed he could try. He didn't quite think she was the best teacher, but beggars couldn't be choosers. That, and he doubted he'd be a good teacher as well. Maybe they had more in common than he thought.
"I'll give it a shot," he said, shrugging slightly and trying to feel the flow once more. Shortly thereafter, he had it for a half of a second. That was enough. Or so he thought. Nothing happened, all that did was make him slightly better at finding the flow.
"...Gimme a sec," he said, beginning to get slightly impatient with himself. Why couldn't he do it? Was something blocking it or something? He tried once more and felt it slightly stronger, but this time he tried a slightly different approach. A very slight, dim glow emanated from his hands for just a moment before it suddenly stopped.
"It... Feels weird," the teenager said, "I can't really describe it." He had felt a lot of different kinda of pain in his life. Perhaps, one could say he had grown hard, thick skin. But this was something completely different, it was unexpected. To him, it didn't quite hurt hurt, but it was more of a tingle. He could compare it to the feeling of pins and needles when one hangs their hand over something in just the right way...
Regardless, he was slightly proud of himself. Sure, he would rather have understood it sooner, but it wasn't to be.
Sure, Kira could do it like it was nothing, but then again, the ginger-haired girl had been practicing magic ever since she was ten years of age. The minor focus to her hands was just a walk in the park as far as she was concerned. Now... if she were to go and try a high level cast, then yes, the pain would be a little more pronounced.
"I'll give it a shot," Kirata hear him say. She couldn't help but grin as she heard him say those words. Just something about someone committing themselves to something, she supposed. Kira continued to watch Kaze, her gray eyes glancing down at his hands every now and then, seeing if he was getting it.
"...Gimme a sec," at this, Kirata frowned slightly. Was there something wrong? He had told her that he could feel the flow coursing throughout his body... could he not focus it? It was a problem for starters, sure, but that didn't mean that Kirata couldn't help but feel at least a little upset about it. But still, she waited for Kaze to get-- oh!
Clapping her hands, Kirata kind of jumped up and down a bit as she saw the dim glow emanating from the redhead's hands. He was actually doing it!
She heard the part about him saying that the feeling was weird. Indeed, it was, but it was something that people would quickly get over after using magic for a long while. Turning back to the bird that had perched itself up on it's branch, Kira looked to Kaze with a grin and then asked, "d'ya think that you can bring the image of slowing down movements to 'life'?"

"d'ya think that you can bring the image of slowing down movements to 'life'?"
Kaze gave a tiny, almost nonexistant grin. "A bit demanding, no?" he asked, joking with her, "I'll try," he said, more serious this time. He imagined the bird moving in slow motion. It looked... Odd. Kaze couldn't see how the bird could still be floating in the air, yet he envisioned it. It didn't make sense to him, wouldn't the bird fall from not being able to flap its wings? Magic must work in its own laws of physics...
He imagined it and, remembering what she told him earlier, started trying to focus once more. The redheaded teen then did something he couldn't imagine himself doing in a million years; for a split second, one could see the bird visibly slow. Kaze was not looking, though, so he had to depend on Kira.
"Did I do it?" he asked, stopping and scratching his head.
((Apologies... just... still not fully myself still yet...))
The ginger watched as Kaze focused his mana to slow down the bird. Watching the creature carefully, she saw it slow down and she beamed. It only lasted for but a mere moment, but it was there! Kaze had done it! He hand done it!
"Did I do it?"
"You did, you did! That's so great! You did it!" Kirata exclaimed, clapping her hands and bouncing up and down.

(Don't worry about it. My post isn't exactly good >>)
"You did, you did! That's so great! You did it!"
There they were. The songs that were the crescendo to his song. It was coming to a close now, this magic lesson, opening the doors for others to come. He could not be more thankful. Though, like many of his emotions and thoughts, that remained suppressed for the time being. His satisfaction, though, shone through.
"Seriously? Awesome," he said with a relieved sigh. It was cut short, though, with his next question, "Hey, do you know any curing spells, or shielding spells?"
Ever seen a balloon just... start to fall from the sky because the helium was running low or something? That's what it was like with Kirata's facial expression as Kaze asked, "Hey, do you know any curing spells, or shielding spells?"
Scuffing her foot against the grassy surface of where it was she was standing, the ginger looked down and replied with, "I'm... actually just now learning to cast curing spells and then later I'll be learning how to do shielding spells. The things I know for the time being are Aero, Aerora, Aeroga, Blizzard, Blizzara, Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga, Terra, Terrara, Fire and Time spells." Wow, the ginger never had to list them all out before besides the time that she was writing in her own spell book journal just to keep a track of what it was that she knew.
Thinking of that journal... just where exactly was that? It may prove useful for someone like Kaze, as it did list things that Kirata did when learning said spells. Even though some of the things were listed in an official spell book, everyone was different and perhaps went through different phases of learning magic. Hikari did after all...
"But you know... we could learn them together!" Kirata said enthusiastically, clapping her hands together and grinning. Kaze seemed to be prone to learning magic fast, considering that Slow was a little more advanced than basic, level one offensive casts. Another magical prodigy? Maybe, maybe not. Well, in due time, bot Kaze and herself were sure to find out.

"Hey, it's alright..." he started, but quickly found out that she probably wasn't listening. She looked sad, which was odd to Kaze. He had never seen someone's expression fall apart like hers just did. Whether that said something about her personality... Kaze figured it would probably be best that they part ways somewhere down the road gently.
Though, why was he thinking about parting ways already? She was a friend, or at least, a friendly acquaintance. Thinking about it, Kaze was pretty sure she was a friend, at least in his eyes. She patched up his wounds rather effectively, something he was grateful for. It was likely he would be thankful for the rest of his life. But, to Kaze, that was irrelevant.
"That'd be great!" he said, grinning slightly. He may regret it later, but he decided he would strive to learn as much as he could- within reasonable means, of course...
Sometimes it didn't take much for Kirata to just... well, become discouraged like she just had, but then again, it wasn't long that she was back to her normal, bubbly self. It was for only a mere moment that the ginger had lost some of her hope, but they resurfaced and now she was back to the way she was when Kaze had first gotten to know her.
Parting ways... it would be sad, that was for sure. Kirata had met so many people on her journeys, and it hurt to be parting ways with such nice people that had allowed for her to stay where it was that they were. There were a lot of times that the teen had been treated like part of the family, and it was uplifting. Parting ways with those people was never an easy task... and to part with someone that had an interest in magic and better yet, someone that Kira had considered to be a friend... well... it'd be harder than most acquaintances, that was for sure.
"That'd be great!"
Grinning back, Kirata clapped her hands together once again and said, "alright, so, I'm guessing to get some of the other magic spells done, we're going to have to do the same thing that I was talking about. You know... like, visualizing your opponent, your target, or your surroundings to better fit the spell that you're about to use. Focus your mana and voila." At that, Kirata did a one spin pirouette and gave Kaze another grin.
"It'll be fun... especially since we get to work on it together as friends."

Kaze nodded. It made sense. Magic didn't seem so hard this way. He felt like he was picking it up well, but he felt... Almost depleted in a way. He wasn't quite fatigued, no, it was something different. But what could it be? He kept this to himself. It might make her worry.
"It'll be fun... especially since we get to work on it together as friends."
"Yeah, it would." Kaze nodded. Learning magic with a stranger might be interesting, but between friends it meant that one could go to the other for help and ill thoughts would not be had by either parties. The fact that Kira seemed like a happy person only made it better to counter Kaze's normally pessimistic ways of thinking about things. In a way, she gave him hope. He liked that feeling.
Grinning as Kaze gave a nod, Kirata swayed lightly from side to side and drummed her fingers together. Perhaps this day was really going to just turn around from the nightmare that seemed to had started it off. Speaking of that nightmare... actually... it seemed that Kirata had already forgotten about it. A good thing, oh, such a good thing.... It was an event that really was better left forgotten.
"Yeah, it would."
Leaning over and grasping his hands lightly in excitement, Kirata grinned up at Kaze. So, they were going to go at whatever they were going to learn as friends, what a great thought! It was always exciting and more fun that way, after all-- to Kirata, that was.
"So, what shall we learn together? I'm up for anything~" Kirata said to Kaze, her bubbly nature showing more than usual.
