A Side Quest [Continued] (Fearon/Bolt: Closed)

Being carried out into the light, Bolt was still unsure of what had truly happened. Fearon told them what had happened, but it still didn't make much sense. He knew that he would have to figure it out shortly. But for now, they appeared to be in this large, barren wasteland. A large rock formation could be seen in the distance.

Unfortunately, there was little Bolt could do to stretch his legs, seeing as Penny was holding him right now, but he didn't say anything. With Penny confused, he didn't want to ask to be put down and risk making it seem like he didn't like her holding him. So he looked around and saw the occasional bird fly overhead, looking confused at the sight of the 2 humans and the dog. It certainly was strange...

Fearon looked out over the plains. "Well, you both know why we came out here." he said.

She was so confused... she was lucky she knew her name... Penny right? Yeah! Yeah, it's Penny. She sighed as she reluctanly put Bolt down at Fearon's words. He was her only source of comfort right now, she needed him near.

Fearon sighed as he watched Penny put Bolt down. He didn't like tearing the two apart, but they had to figure out just what was going on with the two friends. "Okay, let's start with something small." he said and was about to give the command 'Zoom-Zoom' when he realized, it wasn't his place to command Bolt. He looked to Penny.

Penny was thinking inside her own mind when Fearon looked to her. She was trying to figure out what the heck had happened. So far, she had nothing. She sighed, and brought herself back to reality, and realized that Fearon was looking at her. His words registered in her mind. "Oh, umm... sorry. Zoom-Zoom." she commanded.

Penny was incredibly confused. Bolt knew he would have to help her through this. But what was strange is that the moment the words came from Penny's mouth, almost instictively, Bolt twitched slightly before zipping off in a blur. Within seconds, he was unable to be seen. He didn't know where he was running off to, but after a bit, he found himself at the rock that he had seen before. He then wondered for a second. He was about to start rushing toward the two again before he thought... maybe Penny has a way of calling me back. Hopefully Fearon would think of it. Bolt started to walk back, wondering if Penny could find a way to call him back using her new found powers.

Fearon watched as Bolt disappeared from view. He smiled, he always got a kick out of that. He turned to Penny. "You know. Every other power of yours has something to do-" he was suddenly cut off at what happened next.

Penny looked to Bolt as he disappeared, and sighed. She looked back to Fearon as he spoke, and another pain suddenly jolted through her head. Bolt! it seemed to scream... or was it her? She didn't hear the scream, it was more of a mental scream. The pain wasn't as bad as before, but she did grab her head with a hand. "Ouch." she said. The telepathic signal was sent across the plains, looking for the little white dog.

Fearon took a stp foward.

Ouch.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, but... I heard something. It screamed Bolt. Did you hear anything?" she was a bit disappointed when Fearon shook his head. That's it, she was losing her mind.

Wow! It worked! The word 'Bolt' seemed to come to Bolt's head. It was surprising that it had happened. But once it had happened, Bolt immediately took off at super-speeds, reaching Penny and Fearon within seconds. "You called, Penny?" Bolt said when he made it there, showing that he had heard the voice. He figured that Fearon had too, so he would most likely be surprised when they appeared to be shocked.

Fearon looked to Bolt and Penny, okay, now he was confused! Penny never called for anyone! Wait... voice... Penny was telepathic!

Penny looked down to Bolt, breathing a bit heavily. "I never... called." she said, with yet again, a confused look.

"Your telepathic, you can reach Bolt with your mind." Fearon said smiling. This was just too great! The two, if Penny ever got used to her powers, could be the ultimate team!

Penny looked up to Fearon at his words, then down to Bolt. "This is way too much." she said shaking her head.

Bolt was kinda confused at the whole... Telepathic thing, but other then that, Bolt was pleased. But he could tell that Penny was confused, and wasn't handling this well. Walking over to her, Bolt whined slightly. He then decided to say "Even if it is too much... At least you still have me..." Hopefully that would help her out a bit. He hated seeing Penny like this, but it was still a good thing. Now the two were even closer together.

Penny immediatly fell ot her knees and wrapped her arms around Bolt, forgetting Fearon, forgetting the world around them, forgetting her... powers. "I love you." she said, squeezing tightly, needing his comfort.

Fearon looked down to the two, feeling once again, like a third wheel. He silently sighed and ran a hair through his hair, and looked away. He'd give Penny the time she needed, this was all new to her. The powers, heartless, worlds, and all in a few days. He was surprised her head didn't just completely lag down like a computer.

Bolt returned the hug around Penny. "I love you too..." He said, still hugging her. How could he have ever lost her? Well, not again. He was not about ready to lost her again. And with these new powers of hers, they would probably be inseperable. Letting go, Bolt looked at her and said "I'll always be by your side... Now let's see if we can control these powers... Together..." He then looked at her happily before looking at Fearon. "And don't worry Fearon... You'll always be there too." He said, hating when Fearon looked like he felt out of place. He was their friend, and that was how it was going to stay.

Penny wiped some tears out of her eyes, and nodded, smiling.

Fearon looked down to Bolt, and smiled, closing his eyes, he looked down to the ground. "Hmmph... thanks." he said and looked to Penny. "Do you want to figure these powers of your out?"

Penny looked to Fearon, then down to Bolt, and back up to Fearon. She nodded. "Yeah, I want to figure out what's going on." she said

Fearon nodded. "Okay, so when you used your powers, what was it that you did. Did you feel anything other than the pain?"

Penny shrugged. "It was hard to tell. I couldn't concenrate on much else." she said. "Sorry."

Fearon shrugged. "Nothing to be sorry about. It seems as though these powers only come into effect when Bolt is in danger, or your seperated." he said.

Hmm... The powers worked when they were separated or if Bolt was in danger. Perhaps it would work again? "Let's test that then!" He said. And before any of them would be able to object, he would zip off toward the large rock again. If they worked when they were separated, then he would separate them. So when he reached the rock, Bolt stood still, and waited for something to happen.

Penny took a step foward in an attempt to stop her good boy. "Bo-" and he was gone. She looked to Fearon, and waited for something.

Fearon watched as Bolt zipped off, and remembered some awkwardness in Radiant Garden that he'd rather forget. He looked to Penny. "Well, think... something."

"But last time it was just, pain, voice, then Bolt stood here." she objected.

"Hmm... It couldn't hur to try, could it?" he asked.

Penny looked away. "Okay." she said, and looked to the large rock. Bolt! she thought sending a telepathic signal to her dog.

The signal came to Bolt as he stood proudly near the rock. This was the only way for them to work on their powers. However, he didn't dash right toward her. He dashed over to another landmark, the Elephant Graveyard. Since she wouldn't know where he went, she couldn't direct the signal to any specific place. This would help with learning about general signals. Hopefully his plan would work. If it didn't then he would make his way back over to them from the direction he was actually in.

Penny looked to Fearon, and shrugged.

"I don't know. Are you sure your thinking? Try again."
______________________________________

"Yes! I'm thinking!" she said and looked to the large rock. Bolt!! she yelled, louder this time. The signal zipped over to pride rock, but didn't find the reciever it was looking for, so zipped around, and finally found Bolt. Penny didn't have to know where Bolt was, the ability was speciefically wired to contact Bolt and only Bolt.

Bolt heard it once more. With a quick zip, Bolt appeared from a different direction then when he left. "Wow... You don't even need to know where I am for that to find me. And do you still feel pain?" He asked, wondering what Penny was feeling. Hopefully she was getting some form of better control.
