In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

As the moon shone above the fields of Savannah in The Pride Lands, a bat flew down from the skies, zooming around in the air without a care.
"Whee!"
It had been a while since Louis had had this much fun; On some worlds, he couldn't even walk outside without 3 or 4 people attempting to skewer his heart. But here, nobody seemed to care.
Then again, everyone else was probably sleeping. Yet another plus of being nocturnal.
Of course, what goes up must come down, and after a while, Louis had decided to land in a large, dark, woody area. It was surrounded by trees all around, so even when morning would come, the vampire would be safe. Yes indeed, this world seemed perfect for a visit.
However, when attempting to go back into his human form, he couldn't. He was stuck like a bat in a bat trap.
"Curses! Why, in all my years, I've never seen anything like this."
Making the best of things as much as possible, Louis made himself comfy as he took a small batnap.

Grunts and growls came from tall weeds just beneath a tall tree that opened up like an umbrella at the top. Sage was still muttering remarks and curses as she stepped out from the grass. First it was Halloween Town where her outfit was transformed into something one would likely see in a club on Halloween and now...Well now she was a very lovely desert fox. I very much hope you picked up on the sarcasm in that statement.
Because Sage was now a bushy-tailed, four-legged fox, she was rather pissed off. Surprise, surprise. Again, sarcasm. She lifted a paw over a medium-sized rock and gingerly stepped over it seeing as how the hot sun had burned the pads on her paws during the day, now she made a decision to only travel at night.
She had made that decision yesterday morning and it had pretty much worked well, though her pads were still a bit tender. Yet again Sage was searching for yet another Firefox, but here came the tricky part, here her flame was no longer showing. Here she would have to keep an eye out for any fox, now no flame meant there still was a chance they were the same race as Sage.
She pulled back her tall ears as she heard a sort of growling sound coming from around her. Only when she realized the noises were coming from her stomach did she allow her muscles to relax. Having not eaten for over a day the fox was used to this, but seeing so many large animals made her even hungrier. Of course she knew she couldn't take down a wildebeest or something like that but maybe just a small snack, like a bird of some sort.
A rattlesnake slithered out from its home in the sand and headed for a woodsy area. It was like stepping from a movie set appearing like a haunted house to a set looking like it came out of My Little Pony, it just didn't add up. The fox noticed this right away and took her time following the soon-to-be meal in the slightly-darker place.
However, the snake soon noticed and slithered into a hole created by decay in a tree. Again Sage's stomach growled as her meal got away but now as it stopped she realized that it wasn't her stomach anymore but something snoring.
It was like a hide-and-seek game to her as she searched for the reason behind the snore. That reason was a small bat passed out on the ground. "How cute." Sage murmured happily as a wide grin spread across her face. She stepped closer and got ready to attack. Like a bullet shooting out of a gun she was off sprinting the rest of the distance to the bat and then put on the brakes.
She ended up with either paw on either side of the bat so that he was trapped. She dipped her muzzle down so the bat could feel her breath on him. "Any last words?" she asked the bat in a snide voice.
If he had a nickel for every time he had heard that...
"Thundaja."
And with that, lightning scorched through the canopy and towards Louis' foxy assailant in a movement quick enough to strike the fox being in the back.
((*rolls die to see if you dodge and if I escape* Well, I'm not you. My apologies for such a short post, I just didn't want to be doing anything unverified.))

"Thundaja."
Sage gave a puzzled look and started to ask, "Thundaja?...Wait wh-" when she heard a sort of fizzling sound traveling through the trees. She looked up and noticed what seemed like lightning heading right toward them. "Ahh! Watch out!" she screamed and scooped up the small bat in her mouth darting out of the reach of the attack. Gently she set the bat down, whimpered, and looked back.
Evidently the strike scorched a few leaves, went right through a branch, and left a blackened crater in the dirt where it struck. "Whoa, that was a close one and-Wait a second!" Her jade-colored eyes narrowed and she turned back to the bat. "That little word you spoke, 'Thundajer' or something. That was you that caused that bolt!" She snarled and the hackles on her fur rose up high.
Sage couldn't believe this, her meal had managed to catch her off guard. Now it seemed like a waste of time to even go after this bat, especially if he was going to make bolts of lightning strike at her. She had seen this attack before, but it had come from a heartless, not a bat. "Who are you?" the desert fox questioned. In all the worlds she had visited there was not one single person that matched up to this. It was so confusing!
((No problems ^^))

It seemed as if Louis was no longer the prey. At least he didn't have to worry too much about another impending assault from the hungry carnivore.
Taking a quick glance up, he had noticed that some of the moonlight had peaked through the holes in the canopy. That could be a problem come morning...
Standing himself upon his two tiny feet, he took a bow of courtesy. "I am Louis Lotus, a human who is most unaccustomed to being assaulted and nearly eaten by a fox. Yourself?"
His eyes stayed steadily focused on the fox, keeping himself prepared. After surviving for over three centuries, Louis knew he could never be too prepared.

Sage took pride in making herself seem more important than this puny bat. She watched him curiously as he introduced himself as Louis Lotus. Then it was her turn. She raised a paw and swooped it low in front of her as she dipped her head. Might as well show this bat that hunters did have some courtesy, "I am Sage the Firefox, my full name will help you remember this; Sage Firefox." After her revealing her name, something she rarely did, she stood back up to her full height and stared the bat down with her bright eyes.
As far as questions went, why did this human turn into a bat? This was the African Savanna it seemed and here in the middle of it was a bat. Needless to say there wasn't any foxes walking around either, but that was because Sage turned into a fox on a daily basis. "So, why are you such a puny little bat?" She asked as she took a paw and poked him lightly in the stomach.

Backing away a bit from his stomach being poked, Louis attempted to explain with what he knew. "Truth be told, I don't know. This is one of my natural forms, I suppose, but why I can't change back into a human, I just can't be sure." Examining his wings, he spread them out, flapping them a bit.
But this seemed a bit odd. A female fox that could speak English; What did she call herself? A "Firefox"? Sounded intriguing.
"Say, Ms. Sage, might I ask you, what exactly is a Firefox?"
((I really need to start posting again during the daylight hours... ))

"Say, Ms. Sage, might I ask you, what exactly is a Firefox?"
Why did no one know what a Firefox? Hadn't any of these people heard of them? Sage sniffed and pawed the ground.
"A Firefox is a person that has the ability to change into a fox at will. The fox will not necessarily be the one you want but it can be any species of fox. The only way you can tell a Firefox from a normal fox is a) their fiery tail--I don't have mine at the moment--or b) their eyes remain the same color, not the normal brown that foxes have. The tail flame is the most reliable option considering that some Firefoxes might have brown eyes, but by the looks of it, here I'm going to have to look at their eyes."
She finished her rant about Firefoxes, one she hadn't told anyone before but this bat said that the bat form he was in now was one of his natural forms, if so, who was going to listen to a crazy person that could change into a bat. She could trust him to keep a secret, right?
Your turn, you said that a bat was one of your natural forms. What species are you? And if you lie I will kill you." Just to get her point across Sage made sure to give a snarl at the end of her sentence. There was no way just any human would be able to turn into a bat. And this bat said forms, as in two or more. So if being a human was one, and a bat another, wouldn't there be another one?
The fox took a seat on the ground and watched the bat intently making sure he didn't try to get the information he wanted to hear and then make a break for it. That would severely piss Sage off and there was no doubt in her mind that if the bat tried anything like that, there would be nothing left of him in the morning.
Well, there seemed no point in lying to this predator. After all, she had been respectful enough to answer his question, and she seemed to lack the intelligence required of a Hunter.
"Very well then, Ms. Firefox. I am what's commonly known as a vampire, an age-old being that lives off the blood of others." And with that, Louis gave Sage a wise, kind smile.

"An age-old being that lives off the blood of others."
Sage stepped back with a disgusted look on her face. If he thought giving her a bright, cheery smile would earn his way to drinking her blood he had another think coming. "Oh that is just sick! Her tongue lolled out of her mouth as she continued to step back while her eyes scanned the bat up and down for signs of attack. Drinking blood, who could ever stand doing that?
Well technically Sage was going to eat him, in a way that would be just the same. Still that couldn't overpower her fear, even if it was just this little bat. The thought of her succumbing to having her blood drained made her pale. Evidently it showed as a shiver ran up her spine making her legs travel as it made its way to her tail. Her claws came out and dug into the dirt as she stared in horror at the bat. What a...monster.

The fox's fear and disgust was evident, and Louis frowned as he spied the loathing emanating from the girl. He had seen this before, more than often in urban areas. Of course, this is what happens when the truth is set free too soon.
With his frown still hanging upon his mouth, he recomposed himself. "Well, you do what you must in order to survive. Besides, it's not like I kill anyone..."
He had stopped himself there, for he knew that was a lie. It may not've been intentional, but a death is a death, and Louis could never remove that. Of course, it didn't mean that he was as bad as this hunting beast....right?
"Well, I mean, I don't go around killing people on a regular basis. It's just survival, you know? And I never said I was proud of it, either, but the immortality is a bit of a bonus."
Louis wasn't that great with small talk about himself.

Her green eyes narrowed. What was a Firefox going to have to do to just meet one decent person? Now she was talking with a vampire that killed people (not on a daily basis--not like it mattered) to get a meal. But she was guessing that he thought this was okay since he had just witnessed Sage trying to kill him and must have thought that she would have been used to hearing of death and such. Not like her reaction to him drinking blood mattered.
The topic of death was still a bit touchy to Sage; it would probably never go away. Because of the fact that some bits stood out more to her than others it was the memory of her parents dying that really struck her down. So now the talk of this bat killing people made her grieve that much more. "I-I better get going." she mumbled with her eyes to the ground.
She felt it better to get away from anything that was going to remind her of her parents rather than stay near it. Sure she was a strong Firefox, and a witty one at that, Sage often times grew quiet and shy whenever the topic of her family was brought up, you could say it might as well be her one weakness.
Not really sure if he would follow or not the fox stepped out into the night once more. It was a bit of a change for her considering beneath the trees it was a bit cooler but out here there was a nice warm wind blowing. To her it felt comforting and she welcomed it with open arms. This time she didn't care if her paws cried out in pain, she started to jog through the long grass and felt at ease as she ran away the stress and loneliness.
As the firefox began to turn around so as to run away, Louis nodded, saying solemnly, "I-I-I... I understand..." A sigh of sorrow sounded in his pause. He was used to this sort of thing, but it still hurt every time. It didn't help that his self-defense made him come off as a Heartless murderer, doing so only for the longer lifespan...
With the fox going her own way, Louis, in a way, did the same. He flew up to the top of the canopy, watching down upon his fearful acquaintance with a kindly eye.

Sooner then she wanted, Sage got tired and forced her legs to stop running. She saw that she had made some distance between her and that bat but she couldn't help but think how lonely he must be all the time. But at the same time she did want to put as much distance between her and that vampire as she could.
Underneath the branches of a low-hanging tree she paused and rested while crickets chirped their lonely songs. Morning was coming soon and Sage felt she needed to get sleep before the bright sunlight kept her up. Then again she didn't even feel the least bit sleepy as the sun slowly started to rise over the horizon. Maybe if she just sat here for a while...
The sound of a swift flapping of smallish wings could just barely be heard if one listened hard enough. Rushing against the world's clock now, Louis flew swiftly and smoothly to the tree where the young Firefox had taken her rest. If he was to apologize, he would have to be fast.
In good time, Louis reached the tree, landing within its leaves. He climbed his way down to the lowest branch, spotting Sage. As quietly as he could, he attempted to greet her.
