In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Well, this was to be expected. His summary wasn't very meaty. It could use some depth. With a soothing breath to clear his mind, Louis thought back over the clearest events in his mind that he could recall. Staying seated, he told Sage his tale.
"I was born and raised upon the world known as Twilight Town. Back in a time of old. When I was 16, I was transformed. Fearing the prosecution of my family and peers, I fled my home, hiding out in alleys, trying to control myself and my newfound abilities. Of course, rumors flew, sightings were seen, and, in turn, I was hunted.
"It was hard, but I remained patient, awaiting the day that I could go for the stars and start all over again somewhere else. Eventually, space technology was developed, and I managed to escape my world, moving on to newer worlds.
"Over the years, I've made friends, outliving each and every one of them. It's sad to see them go, but it comforts me to remind myself that I helped them, they helped me, and we both changed each other a bit for the better."
And with that, Louis smiled and patted his companion on the paw. "Anything else, my friend?

Again he patted her on the paw and again he asked if there was anything else she'd like to ask. Right now her answer would be no, but she knew that as time progressed there were bound to be more questions popping up. So she stood up and stretched quietly, just thinking about what her reply would be. It would be nice if they could take a walk or something, but with all the sunlight she knew that wouldn't be possible. Wildly her eyes darted around, trying to find some form of portable shade for the bat. All that ever met her eyes though was tall grass and random trees popping up here and there.
"Just one thing--I'll make it quick. How did you get to this world?"
Now seemed like an ideal time to plan an escape route from this world. The blisters on her paws screamed for mercy and it appeared to the Firefox that there was not a member of her kind on this world. What did appear to her though was that it was time to leave this grassland of a place and move on to yet another. This bat just mention that he had been to a lot of different worlds, she was sure there were some she hadn't searched yet. Why, with this vampire's help--calling him that for the first time sent a small shiver down her back--Sage might be able to find another Firefox.
Peculiar question to ask, but Louis gave a small chuckle.
"I could ask you the same question, my dear!" he retorted with a warm laugh behind it. "I got here via Gummi Ship; It's currently parked over near the oasis," now indicating in the direction of the watery retreat.
A small yawn escaped from Louis' mouth; He was staying up kind of late. He sensed some minor anticipation from Sage; She must've been anxious to get on moving. Perhaps she needed a ride...
"Ms. Sage, would you like a ride? *yawwwwwn*" Louis smacked his lips a bit from the drowsiness. "We could walk back to my ship. You could fly it and I can rest...*yawn* How does that sound to you?"

So that's what those things were that she stowed away on. Gummi ships...
Sage flicked her tail nervously. The temptation to fly that gummi ship out of there was great but it was the fact that she didn't know how to fly that stopped her. She would give anything to have a vehicle like that, she would travel around the universe as long as she lived. Again, she ran into a brick wall because it seemed the only person around here that would be able to tell her how to fly it was falling asleep on her. Maybe there would be a manual in the cockpit or something.
"I would, except I don't know how to even fly one of these so called 'gummi ships'. In fact, the only way I get from world to world is becoming a stowaway in my Firefox form and hoping that I don't wind up somewhere bad. So far I've been doing pretty well." Sage grinned as she admitted her last sentence and set her front paws up on the trunk of the tree. "Now come on down, I'm sure I'll be a quick learner."
The bat would have to give her kudos for at least wanting to give it a try. Though she swore that if she didn't get the concept of it then she wasn't going to fly it. Something that took him that long to get must be expensive and Sage was severely short on munny now-a-days. With her quick speed and ability to use it now that she was in her fox form, she was sure that she could transfer the bat from the tree to the ship in less time than it took to harm himself. Then all would go well and she'd be able to fly them to a new location where she would depart and find herself a Firefox.
With a wholesome chuckle, Louis fluttered himself down from the branch and stood next to Sage. He had no problem with a lack of experience; That's what there was a built in tutorial for.
Looking up to Sage, he asked, "Forgive my rudeness, but do you mind if I cling underneath you? It would get us across the plains much faster and pain-free."
Post by sagefirefox on Jan 21, 2009 21:42:00 GMT -4
Sage let a little scowl crawl across her face as he asked to cling onto her. It was only a momentary one before she realized he couldn't get across any other way. She caved in sooner than normal and shifted to be standing in front of him rather than by his side. "Fine, but you'll have to promise me that you'll be able to teach me how to fly this thing." The fox wasn't really in the mood for taking an hour to learn how to fly a ship with the word 'gummi' in its name. Honestly, how hard could it be to fly?
With a small, batty bow, Louis assured Sage, "I'm a humanoid of my word. I'll teach you how to operate the ship, he said with a grin.
Walking himself underneath Sage, Louis jumped up with a flap of his wings or two and clung with all fours upon Sage's furry underbelly. "Now then, le-*yawwwn*-t us be on our merry way!"

He was lighter than she thought. Knowing that this bat was human made her think that having him cling onto her underbelly meant that she was going to have some 40 more pounds put on her. But surprisingly, he was just as light as any other bat--not that she had ever had a bat cling onto her before. Before she could give the word, he had announced that he was ready to go and Sage absentmindedly darted ahead.
The oasis wasn't too far away; in just a few bounds she had a good view of it; in just a few more she was there. The gummi ship looked surprisingly sturdy. She had imagined some sort of second-hand rundown sort of ship but no, this one looked like all the rest. Not wanting to have the bat stay out in the sun for any longer, Sage boarded the ship and waited for him to let go. When he finally did, she looked down at him and asked, "So now how do I fly this ship?" She didn't want to waste anytime, seeing as how the bat looked like he was about to fall asleep at any time now.
Well, that was fast. Sage was a rather quick runner.
Ah yes, time to teach. With a tiny yawn, he said, "First, let us leave this planet's atmosphere. The sooner we revert back to our humanoid forms, the better."
Let the teaching begin.
"First, press that big green button over here," Louis said as he indicated towards a big green button. "Then, you flip that switch over there, then push this lever over here up, but slowly and steadily."

She went over to a rather plain-looking control panel expecting to see something that looked like it belonged in the future. Instead of complex direction such as, "Turn on the left switches that are adjacent to those with a slightly darker hue to them. Then turn that knob 3 above the first only 45 degrees counterclockwise." Then it would be hard to maneuver this ship. But instead the directions were, "First, press that big green button over here, then, you flip that switch over there, then push this lever over here up, but slowly and steadily."
The fox slowly padded over to the 'big green button'. Luckily she wasn't actually colour-blind like some other animals might be, or else they would be screwed. She jumped up and set her front paws on the wall so that she'd be able to at least reach the button and carefully reached out to tap it. As she put some slight pressure on it she felt something start up in the ship, she figured it was the engine. Then she quickly scampered over to the switch where she leapt up again and quickly flipped it and saw a green light come on. A rumbling could faintly be felt throughout the whole ship and finally she moved over to the lever. Slowly she wrapped her paw around it and began to lift up. Almost at once the gummi ship jerked up, and began to miraculously take flight. They were airborne.
((If there's anything wrong, let me know.))

"Why thank you." Sage nodded as she replied to him, "I'm a natural." she puffed out her chest and began to look at important, trying to show Louis that she was capable of the simplest things...
...Until her shoulder nudge the lever and the ship jerked. Luckily she scrambled back around and steadied the ship before any damage could be done, but a embarrassed smile was forever plastered on her face.
((...Two wrongs do in fact make a right. No muse))
As the ship tumbled for a moment, Louis chuckled. The young huntress reminded him a bit of himself, the first time he tried to fly a Gummi Ship. Keeping that thought in mind, he remained patient and forgiving.
"It's all right. It is your first time, after all. We all make a little fluke now and then."
With the ship rising higher and higher, Louis could feel the enforced enchantment from the world beginning to slip off of his being. He was able to turn a bit of his wing back into a human arm, though he stopped part way when he realized...
...when he realized that he had been naked in front of a woman this entire time.
"Oh my goodness greatest golly gosh! Excuse me for a moment, m'lady!" the bat exclaimed, his voice cracking as he scurried into his clothes, now ready for when he changed back. Though he couldn't blush, he felt plenty of blood in his tiny body rushing to his head.

Sage's ears in particular flattened when Louis was talking about flukes. Her getting the ship started wasn't a fluke, she was a natural. Then again the ship was beginning to speed up while her train of thought was drifting off, only when her mind began to pull back to reality did she notice the change in speed. Then again, she thought to herself, maybe she was just a little inexperienced. But once again her thoughts were interrupted by something else. Louis was making a ruckus about something and Sage turned back to look.
The bat looked ridiculous, it seemed part of him was human now (the odd proportions made her giggle inside for a split second) and still part bat. Yet he was fully clothed making part of his clothes fit, and the other drown him in fabric. She immediately turned back to the control of the ship, knowing that he would change back any second now. Though she probably could change, she didn't really want to just yet. In human form it may be easier to reach the controls, sure, but she also just didn't really want to revert back to her human form now.
A small blue flame sparked on the tip of her tail and then slowly kindled into a fire. Now she was a full Firefox, meaning that at anytime she could probably shift back. It also meant that Louis must be in human form now, and fulled clothed too. Sage--letting curiosity getting the best of her--turned around to see what he looked like in human form.
